Not only did this update ruin map editing for MP map makers, it crushed the hopes for SP mappers as well. The biggest problem plaguing the SP maps was the fact that your map wasn't the same published as in the editor (terrain altered, holes moved, textures shifted and glitched). You can make a beautiful map in the editor, but Lord knows how it will look once published.
They've been promising this fix since release, and what does this update do? It makes it worse. Now instead of textures shifting 5m they move 2m, and rather than getting a checkerboard pattern to show, now entire mountains and canyons are formed post publishing. THIS IS A JOKE. Hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue and you can't even get your dev kit to work properly. I know I'm done mapping, crazy to think how much smoother the editor ran in 4 (maps that look the same for everyone, enemy spawns that work, etc.).
And thanks for the extra assets, those re-skinned sandbags and fences will go a long way (lol). No primitive bow or slingshot skin, no black panther or leopard/jaguar skin (puma), no AI skins to fit varied themes, no new gameplay assets (like triggers, keys etc.). I was excited to hear we were getting assets from the DLC's, but if this is what to expect, then I have nothing more to wait for.
Maps that don't turn out the way you build em, and developers that actively try to restrict creativity in the community make it really hard to ever think about coming back to this game. So long Ubi, until you make another primal/nature themed game, I'm done (sadly you're the only one who've done it). Never again will I look to your games for the editor or MP aspect, which is the only reason I bought 5 in the first place.
I don't expect a response from anyone official, as that clearly is not Ubi's M.O. Just want to let all my other world creators (mappers) out there know that they are wasting their time.

Can you please take a picture of before/after your map to show exactly what are those canyons and mountains you're talking about ?
If this is true, then I am completely 100% done with this game (and likely the franchise). What is even the point of updating a PvP map to display the correct terrain if you can't play it? And if this is truly the case, how can I even tell if it is happening on my PvP map without a way to test it!? DISGUSTING!
Brother's playing fortnite rn, so I'll try to get a picture of the problems when I can. On one of my maps a giant 100m wide by 10000m tall pillar can be seen in the corner (unless you look directly at it), so ugly it ruins the whole valley I worked on. In my other map part of the terrain (like 1/6th the map) is turned into a giant hole. (with a giant pyramid in the middle wtf?). It's clearly glitched as you can walk right over the entire void (on my actual/invisible terrain) and the vegetation is hovering where it should be. One of my tunnels is also now completely blocked by terrain (at least you can walk through it SMH), which doesn't make any sense b/c the terrain isn't even shifted by that much.
Can't speak for others, but I have two SP maps and this ruined both of them. Also checked out a couple new maps and like half had visible glitches (usually the more detailed maps too sadly). No more editor for me (unless they add something useful). Sucks to see so many good/beautiful maps ruined by Ubisoft's unfinished product.
Hmmm...I played one of my single-player maps last night, and I noticed there was a large terrain column where there shouldn't have been one. I went back to the editor and checked my map, and sure enough it wasn't there...it could only have happened after publishing. I'll check it out this evening when I get home, and try to get some pics as well (may be a bit dangerous though, since the area it's in has a lot of Yetis, lol)Originally Posted by kingdjedefre Go to original post
Can't speak to the giant terrain pop up going on but as for the shifting I have a test map specifically for this. Uploaded it again just now and the terrain shift is gone in this test map. As for the hole in the terrain moving I also had this in my test map and before or after TU6 this was a non-issue.
This is a picture before the TU6
This is a picture post TU6
Basically the terrain was moving in the X and Y direction that correlated to the size of the generic block 200x200x200 and by looking as the scale (1M) on the pattern of the default texture applied to a generic block this indicated that before TU6 is moved in the X direction my 2m and also in the Y direction by -2m. Post TU6 the shifting is gone.
As I said before it seems to occur more often in complex maps (terrain glitches, not shifting), but I can assure you that terrain textures are still being shifted by at least 1m (my "God's of Egypt" map makes it easy to see any shift). As for the hole problem, I never experienced it before the update, but now after TU6, terrain goes right over my cave entrance (I can walk through it tho?).
Worst of all is the pillar problem, almost 1/5 of both of my maps are altered by this glitch. In one there is the giant pillar problem, and the other there is a inverted hill with a pyramid in the middle. I am completely done publishing maps, if I do make anymore they will be for me (or anyone on my console). I'll take the checkerboard f-ed terrain over this any day (and I hated that too). I'm not even updating my one MP map b/c I'd rather have this checkerboard problem than have Ubi do god knows what to my map.
CAFFEIN8TED, maybe make your test map more complex to account for this? Alter the terrain in some areas, and add some random assets to get close to 90% memory (idk, just spitballing). The terrain shift is definitely 10x better (albeit still there for me), but they really need to fix what is causing the altered terrain/holes. Game-breaking problem if you like to make realistic/immersive worlds.
I’ll give this a go later with a bunch of varying heights, textures, etc... I noticed this on my first real map as well and was waiting for a fix. Also sounds like your on console while I’m playing on PC this go around so that might be the difference as well.Originally Posted by kingdjedefre Go to original post
Just wanted to say that this is not the same editor that the developers used to make the game. Aside from the obvious lack of logic entities, I would hope no sane level designer would build their map entirely in the 3d perspective view. Most developers and 3d artists use orthographic views in addition to the 3d perspective.
No, what we got is less of a serious editing tool, and more of a toy.
