    Warrior's Den May 24th

    There will be a Q&A next week. I kind of find it sad that is is a less common thing, there was rarely a week without some new question even if some were repeated.

    On the road to E3, hype!

    Season 1 faction war ornaments unlocked to all. Apparently they decided to do this in season 2, it was a matter of time to redesign the ornaments and put together the new one. They get some people don't like this, the crux of Eric's job is that old saying, you can please some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time.

    Matchmaking is one of their top priorities right now, now stability is better balancing and matchmaking bring most complaints. They have a new backwards relaxation rule, at old state at matchmaking beginning they look for people with exactly the same skill and reputation. Then they go +/-1 reputation, mmr etc within your region. Now with backwards relaxation when they expand a parameter, so when they look for rep levels +/- 1/2 than you they can reset their skill parameter to try and find the right balance.

    The second thing going on is matchmaking was very fast, most people within the first thirty seconds, they are now with the relaxed matchmaking going for accuracy over speed to the point last week it was over a minute, they are trying to find the right balance with this.

    They never relax completely now, in the old system the top reputation players could have been matched with a new player, the thing is in 2v2 and 4v4 if there are not enough players within a fairly large range you won't find a match, this is something they are testing.

    They did a first release on this last week, it was why carousel of death matchmaking was so long for some people, they have toned this back a little based on D A T A . Released this week they have different relaxation per game mode, dominion will be stricter in finding similar players, deathmatch/carousel of death they will try to go more for speed and pulling in more players.

    They are making changes to draw in progress, this has been degrading over time as it was based on the average which meant more players means a looser average. It was also that the relaxation was based on the original created match session not taking into account that players had left and joined in subsequent matches. Now the matches should be more accurate, a side effect they are looking out for is this may make it too restrictive.

    What they are looking for all in all it better quality matches with a smaller gap in reputation level. They reset mmr in season 6 along with these changes which is why the initial; matchmaking then was a little crazy, they did this in season 4 and want to once or twice a year.



    Event

    Belvel the Medusa, knights won across all platforms and vikings were second across all platforms. We are now in Musashi the Crane, most matches completed using samurai characters. On Sunday will begin Heidrek the Warthog for the vikings.

    They asked have they considered removing the volcano in faction war? No, they are more discussing how can they leverage that interest.

    They went over a bunch of news from last week, revamped champion status, reminder. Champion status is 30% off currently. Hero trials which means all heroes are playable and discounted for this event but not customisable until they are recruited (and obviously this will go away). The discount on Mask outfits has ended. Sword in the Stone emote is out and limited to only this week (meaning until Thursday), they showed it., if anyone faces me do not think I am going to just let you do that every duel round or every time you see me in 4v4, I will just go after you >.>

    On a tangent, they addressed a question over revenge, it is something they are looking at, it will not be Season 1 levels whatever they do to it. More to come, it is still under investigation, they are looking for things they can change quickly and easily that will be a benefit for specific situations.

    Back to event stuff, there is now a dynamic priced bundle which will have the effect, the emote, the mast outfit and the battle outfit. This goes to June 4th.

    They addressed the pricing of visual change, they changed this quickly based on feedback. They were clear that it wasn't just a bug, it was a matter of this is what they want to do, this is what the community says and it is reasonable, they made adjustments based on this. Players on a case by case basis may get refunds if support is contacted but for players trying to game them they will be able to go over the history just as a warning.



    Community contest

    They want to point out that any official entries need to be emailed to them, they also want to ntoe that there is a word limit (500 words) on the fanfiction. The end date of the contest is June 1st. The reward is a customised notebook or sketchpad, they showed some art and fiction entries.
