Arcade is now DEAD for creativity

    Ubisoft's "patch" states the following:

    ARCADE

    • Public lobby changes
Removed “Pick a map” phase from Public Lobbies: maps are now automatically picked from “Featured”, “top rated”, plus a “Replay map” slot

So what this means now is there is no way for the general multiplayer userbase to play new custom maps - there will be no way for the userbase to therefore test and vote on new maps because they cannot play them. So you are limited to playing new maps in private lobbies ONLY. How on earth will Ubisoft be able to add to their featured maps rotation now ? Nobody will be playing new maps only from the Ubisoft approved list ?

RIP anyone that was making new multiplayer maps and wanted to play them - specially if you had any hopes of being added to the featured list.

You all sound like the creativity is only with the mp part, it's quite insulting for those which are also working on sp maps, any way i fully understand how disheartening those decisions are unless you have a network of 50 friends.

I also used to make alot of singleplayer maps in fc4. The ability to make mp maps and play them publicly is what has kept me in the mapmaking game and got me excited about fc5 game. I made my maps Galactica Star and Cobra Command with a multiplayer oriented focus and convert them to singleplayer. Most people have only played the singleplayer but for the most part I only enjoy the multiplayer map making and playing multiplayer maps. I think a large number of map makers are in the same boat as me and if the ability to pick our multiplayer maps in public lobbies is taken away then we will cease to make singleplayer maps as well. Ultimately this will result in lower quality maps to pick from when featuring maps and a downgraded arcade experience across the board.

    Hey Nate,

Ubisoft should thank you guys for making them Free DLC, so they didn't have to pay anymore employees to do that. You, and Jaavaa were basicly free labor .

Because of you guys No one else will have their Maps played in public lobbies.

It's not your fault , because you guys , and no one else frankly seen this coming.

But hey! You were blessed to have your maps in public lobbies right?

This has to be the most horrible choice for an Update that I have ever seen in gaming. Why the hell would I ever want to create a map ever again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im so gutted. I enjoyed the multiplayer aspect and map creation, and have 3 multiplayer maps waiting to go. Was sitting on them until the texture shifting glitch was fixed.

I have no incentive to bother uploading them now.

Also, if I do happen to play a custom map I like, there is no point in favouriting it as it's not like I can vote it in next time I play...

I will admit that I was tired of playing the same 5 maps over and over...and YES it needed a fix. But this was the worst way to fix the problem that I can think of. UBI: if you want to actually make Arcade fun and popular...offer it for free for everyone. Allow all the perks to be carried over into other premium pay-for games. Really push player created maps. Allow for easy Favoriting of maps and change the Featured maps every day. This would get a buzz going for Arcade as it is free. It would take players from other non-ubisoft games and promote the purchase of premium games to use the perks that were awarded in the free to play arcade. I am a map maker and would pay money for more arcade editor options. I would llove to make conquest style games or capture the flag type games. I would pay for extra map items and editor options. You really screwed up arcade doing it this way...do you have formor execs from EA working for you now?

No one that I can see is commenting on single/coop map makers. we are mad at the multiplayer map picking...I love the public made maps single/coop and multiplayer. There is creativity in both..not sure where you get that we are being insulting.

by the way snuffles If you are the map creater that I think you are...I like your one club/strip joint map. Maybe I should say liked as I am never playing nor designing arcade maps again until this is fixed.
