Warren Gate challenging with Lonestar. Ran the hungry hog. 220 rounds of smart ammo leaves lots of dead bad guys. Just swap weapons instead of waiting to reload.

Not as hard as I thought it was going to be, once we kind of figured it out...

I just watched a Widdz video and apparently when you get Smart ammo, you get a skull icon near your ammo counter.
    I haven't seen this yet.

Actually, just using a mic and telling team members what target your shooting so your not shooting the same one makes this a cake walk.

Everybody shoots a different NPC your count can be done before your halfway through Warrengate...

In a group. Every NPC killed with smart ammo counts for all players. So coordinate to activate the smart magazine and shoot different NPCs than your partner.

Done in Warrengate in hard, more easy than it sounds at first.

This is correct. There's text that appears when Smart Ammo is available as well as a Skull Icon on the UI to signal the new damage type. Keep in mind after the effect ends. Smart Ammo goes on cooldown.

Realized a little late that we should have taken our time a little bit and let the cool down reset before killing the next NPCs...so used to blowing through these to get the tokens, that never occurred to me to slow down

Ahhhh - that explains a lot. Probably should have twigged that was happening earlier.

    What is 'Smart Ammo"?

Cuz in the GE, I am supposed to load 15 clips of smart ammo, as well as kill a bunch of guys wiht smart ammo and after running several group runs in the GE missions with all the bonuses on, I have like 9 of each...

I feel like the mechanics of smart ammo weren't explained very well in-game. I was playing last night with a friend, our first time trying a Brutal Onslaught mission, and we were having a tough time between looking at each enemy's icon, seeing what it is and whether it's grayed out or not, then checking which weapon we have selected and which ammo type it has active, reloading to select the proper ammo, then concentrating on killing them and not dying in the process...and THEN on top of everything else, looking out for a little skull icon next to our ammo. Half the time, i had smart ammo and didn't even know it. I'm sure I threw away a bunch of it by reloading without even knowing it was active.

Then the whole thing about smart ammo going on cooldown? We had NO clue what that (even tinier) skull icon meant. Time until we lose smart ammo? I understand now that it apparently is the time you have to wait until smart ammo can be triggered again? But that's only because I stumbled upon this thread in the forums.

The whole Savage/Brutal Onslaught mechanic is an interesting idea that can be fun once you understand what's going on and what to look for. But the game certainly doesn't go out of its way to help you take in all the visual information and help you process what's happening.
