First and foremost, please leave your jokes out of this thread, and approach it not as a meme, but as a game designer's point of view.
Tachanka needs a buff. He is already useless and Maestro outclasses him in every way:
- Maestro has a viable gadget, Tachanka doesn't
- Maestro has ACOG, Tachanka doesn't
- Maestro can move and take cover with his LMG, Tachanka can't
- Maestro has a shotgun secondary to open up walls, Tachanka doesn't
- Attackers can do nothing to Maestro's gadget without high destructive gadgets or Maestro shooting them, Attackers will rape someone using Tachanka's turret explosives or without
So how can we make Tachanka viable? Well, I believe the formula for an operator's OP-ness goes as such:
Perceived OP-ness = gun × speed + gadget. Basically, while a gadget may make an operator truly OP, the gun and speed are what really what matters. Good examples would be how Rook was the winningest defender despite his low pickrate of about 20%. Another example is Blitz: literally the only thing he needed to go from low grade, to a consistent pick in pro-league was being bumped up to 2 speed. Anyways, one common buff idea has been to give Tachanaka an ACOG, the problem with that (to my knowledge of how the game is coded) is that when a gun is being made, there's some sort of line of code for if said weapon can have a certain attachment, something like
So when they want to take Bandit and Jäger's ACOG they would go in to the MP7 and 416-C files and change that variable to false. That means they can't let Tachanka (a 1 speed) have an ACOG without letting Kapkan (a 2 speed) have an ACOG as well since they would use the same gun. So therefore, adding a new gun just for Tachanka can 1) allow Tachanka to have an ACOG and 2) buff Tachanka by giving him a new (and pretty good) gun.
So what would this gun be? Well, firstly Ubisoft has a few guidelines for what guns a defender can have:
- Defenders cannot have assault rifles. Yes Jäger's 416-C is an exception, but Vigil's SMG looks like an assault rifle, it acts like an assault rifle, it even f***ing shoots 5.56 bullets (thus by definition making it an assault rifle), yet Ubisoft calls it an SMG, because Defenders don't get assault rifles
- A primary weapon (except for a ballistic shield) must have Picatinny rails for sight mounting
- All SMGs need a pistol grip
- Only 1 speeds are eligible for ACOGs
That leaves us with a decent pool of weapons. My first suggestion (and preferred idea) is the PP-19 Bizon:
Now why would I suggest the Bizon? Well, the biggest factor is that it's a Russian SMG with Picatinny rails to attach gunsights. But there are other factors as well. Firstly, it makes sense in the lore as to why only Tachanka would be using this weapon. It's been stated that Tachanka has a thing for old, unique, Soviet weapons and the Bizon matches that perfectly with it's helicial 64 round magazine. Now, I'm sure some readers just saw that 64 and are afraid of it being another P90 pea-shooting bullet hose, but it would actually be the opposite. The Bizon's firerate is 650-700 rounds per minute (for comparison, the FBI's UMP45 shoots at 600 rpm, and Vigil's K1A shoots 720 rpm), and I'd thus put the damage at something similar to the MP5SD. Due to the nature of the Bizon's magazine, it would have a pretty slow reload time; and it would have an average recoil pattern akin to the Vector45 (if the Vector shot at 685 rpm). And as for the reason a new gun is being discussed: it would have an ACOG.
However, if 64 rounds isn't your thing we can look at the Uzi. This one I won't go into details on, y'all already know what the Uzi is, and you can get an idea for it's stats. The only issue is if/when Ubisoft releases IDF operators, the Uzi would be the clear choice for defenders, and the answer to that is the same as the MP5 answer: variants! Now why do you think the GIGN has the MP5, where as the SAS have the MP5K. There's zero difference in firerate, damage, and virtually no difference in recoil, the reason the variants exist is so that the 3 speed wielders can have ACOG on their MP5, where as the 2 speed can have his ACOG restricted. Thus, if the IDF defender is going to have an Uzi as a primary, they could have the Uzi mini variant, or they could even have the Uzi micro as a secondary. You can take a look at the Uzi family below, and thanks for reading, please leave any thoughts or ideas below.
