    Changes Needed to Dodging and evasion.

    Greetings I thought id take the time to list some problems with the dodge mechanics in the game for honor. Having played a few matches recently. Heres what ive noticed.


    The Problem with Dodging

    Currently what ive noticed within the game for honor. Is that the dodging mechanic does not always work as intended. In fact 90 percent of the time. When going to dodge out of a chain attack. or evade an attack. i find that im left Open to a barrage of light attacks. Where i keep Inputing the command to dodge. And yet nothing happens. But a multitude of attacks where i get near death or get killed. How exactly is this detrimental to the fight. In simple terms it takes away from the fight to not allow one to break free from a fight. And simply get pummeld to the point of instant loss. It also gives way to much of an advanatage to the player knowing how to exploit there opponents dodge.


    The Solution For Dodging


    The Suggestion im making for dodging is that they need to become a more effective mechanism for evading and breakng free of attacks. Also they need to be made to where gaurd break is no longer Affecting dodges. Reason for this is agian. The fact Dodging is a ill suited mechanism for Evading attacks. Still leaving you open to get stun locked and or hit buy repetitive chains of attacks detriments and takes away from ones fight and ability to learn from there battles. All in all Dodge needs to Incoperate a larger and faster dodge. It should only be punishible if the timing for the dodge has been ill timed. And should be a means to break free and evade attacks to keep the fight going

    As ive now been playing season 6 for almost a weak now I can definatly confirm there are / is a broken element to the dodging mechanic with For Honor. Dodging is just buy all means the most ridiculous lackluster of a feature. The fact that when dodging you cant break free of an attack cause you are constantly stunned which simply put shouldn't be happening. Dodge is crucial feature needed in the game. The fact that It can be gaurd brokn is enough. But to limit ones ability to evade / counter attack buy making it so light chains can stun prevent one from dodging is just purly counter productive to the core of For Honor. It Should be about tactfull gameplay. Not limit ones ability to make the fight all offense.

    Since the start of season 5 I have not been able to dodge out of anything. Before the start of season 5 playing kensei I could get hit with a light and dodge out of the second incoming attack and counter with swift strike. I can’t even count how many times swift strike has gotten me out of trouble and able to turn the fight. It didn’t matter if the attack as a light or heavy I still was about to dodge out of it. It’s not just dodging I’m having issues with its any defense move i input and nothing happens. Blocking, deflecting, parrying it seems like half the time it doesn’t either register the input fast enough or nothing happens and I just sit there taking every hit.

    What annoys me is when I'm in the middle of a dodge attack or dodge bash, and I get guardbroken when my weapon should be shoved into my enemy's chest

    I hear you there. Back when For Honor was in Open beta the dodge mechanic was well designed and well Implemented. After the beta Ubi changed it and for what to suit a group of players that were afraid of dodge spam. Fact is those players have the same dodge mechanics and could use them. Since Launch the dodge mechanic has been just poorly designed and Poorly implemented. With things such as. Dodgeing into an enemy attack. Being gaurd broken on a dodge. Witch reminds me. Gaurd break was never used on dodge in the Open Beta. It wasn't until the complaints on dodging came that dodgeing got nerfed. and all its done is detriment the game buy not allowing players to break free of a attack chain. Or by getting gaurd broken on a dodge. To gain a free attack. or simply spam the hell with attack chains causing you to become stun locked while trying to input the command to dodge only to get beaten to an untimely death cause you couldent break free to continue your counter attack or simply evade an incoming attack.

    Agian I hear you here. Many times ive had this happen to me. And have sat there going wait a minut I counterd with a dodge and zypher slash. Only to have been gaurd broken when my katana should have struck the enemy. Only to attempt to counter the gaurd break when No icon to indicate countering the Gaurd break dosent show up. Thus giving them a free attack that cant be avoided. Its truly a lackluster. And broken mechanics witch should have been fixed a long time ago after launch. And yet its only taken a year to relize that they have broken mechanics in there game.
