Sometimes I just can't use Feats | Forums

I play with an xbox 360 controller on PC. Sometimes, when I press the D-pad in the direction of the feat I want to use, it just makes a "buh-bum" sound and doesn't work (I think the feat icon maybe flashes with the sound or something). It always happened in particular with targeted feats like throwing axe or cross bow (when you are already locked onto a target you usually have to just press it and it throw it, without "aiming", however this sometimes doesn't work for the above reason so I have to unlock, press it, aim and then throw). In a match just now I had my fire pot ult thing with raider, I pressed literally around 10 times to throw it, and everytime it just made that "buh-bum" sound... and inevitably I just got killed while trying to do this and we lost the match.

Does anyone know what is up with that? Why is it does it only work sometimes? Obviously it's registering the press because of the sound.

Just to confirm, will this mainly happen near the start of the match? Are you earning enough XP in the match to be able to use the Feats? It's not possible to use them all from the start.

Thanks for the response. This is when I have feats unlocked during the match, the example I gave is when my team was breaking, so right at the end of the match, and I had the 4th and final feat unlocked and was trying to use it. Usually they work after a few tries, but a lot of the time I have to switch targets/re-target. In this case it didn't work at all though - and with that one you don't event target an individual,, you press it and it comes up with the circle/area of affect, however sometimes even that doesn't work.

This has happened since release, and I usually just don't equip feats like crossbow and throwing axe because of it.

Do you have to hold down on the d-pad for a few seconds? (I think I read that somewhere), or it should just be a press? From the controls it sounds like only a press should be needed.

Please let me know if you need anymore info. If it's helpful I can try to record a match where it happens.

Thanks for getting back to me and for the clarification.

I imagine you've tried holding it and it was as inconsistent as pressing it once?

It would be interesting to see some footage of this occurring, as this can help us look into these issues.

If you go to 2:18 you'll see me attempt to use a feat multiple times on the same charcter and each time it makes that "buh-bump" sound and the feat icon flashes red (almost as if I have not selected a target). Not sure if this has anything to do with that character being stealth, as I saw a post online about this happening for stealthed characters (https://steamcommunity.com/app/30439...6880497093694/), but I'm pretty sure it is not isolated to stealth characters - and as I said before, it happens with the fire pot too, which you don't even select a target for first usually.

Regarding holding it down, I'm pretty sure I tried this in the past and it made no difference. I can try again, but it seems like this should work as it's detecting me pressing the button.

Apologies for the delayed response.

In the example you provided, the Shinobi has a Feat called Stealth equipped, which counters the Feat Marked for Death. Which you hinted at and is the reason that you're not able to use it on them.

The description for stealth says "Passive, Hide yourself from the HUD, Radar & Aim Assist".
Is being already locked onto them before pressing the feat considered aim assist? Would it work if I pressed the feat first, then aimed at them and cast it?
The description for marked for death says "Reveal target's position and lower their Attack & defense", so I thought that half the point was to counter stealth (reveal target).

Anyway as I said I'm pretty sure this does not only happen with stealth characters, as it happened when I tried to cast fire pot without anyone selected. I'll try to record another video... though it seems to be one of those things where you can never get it to happen when you want it to/when you want to show someone lol.

Unfortunately I'm not totally sure on how it works, this is based off information I got from our For Honor team.

Those kind of issues are certainly the most frustrating. I guess for the moment it's good that it's not been occurring frequently enough to get a video of it.

I play shaman a lot so I am typically using either traps or passives and I have lost a few games being unable to place down my 4th and final trap (nail-bomb) or even the bear traps and stun bomb in some cases. And this is across multiple rounds of elimination. I have been force to just make due without feats even when I have had them unlocked, it has caused me to lose some games. Unfortunately I do not have any footage to support my claims but I trust that nonetheless someone will look into it?

I'm sorry to hear that you're also struggling to use Feats in-game in For Honor. Would you mind quickly confirming which platform it is that you're playing on?

For me to fully understand what you're referring to, and to demonstrate the issue to the For Honor team, video clips would be very valuable to us. We'd also like to check how reproducible these issues are through requesting multiple clips where possible, as these give our devs the best chance of figuring out how to reproduce the issues and thus what may be causing them.

Have you checked that you do not have any conflicting Feats active, as well?
