Suggestions on How to Improve the Arcade Editor

Being a (somewhat competent) map maker, I am simply loving the arcade editor, however I see some room for improvement.

    Map Descriptions
I feel that this would let creators describe their maps to add context, lore and more of a sense of direction for the players. I don't feel that this should be mandatory, but optional descriptions would benefit all the storytelling map-makers out there.

    Music and Lighting Zones
It's hard to make diverse maps without being able to change certain aspects of the Environment sections depending on the player location. Also, speakers that play music would be helpful for ambiance of more immersion-based maps.

    Crowds
There's nothing worse than building a massive club or street and then realizing that you can only fit about 10 people MAXIMUM into it. I've discovered this the hard way and so would like to suggest a single object that acts as a crowd, procedural groups of NPCs that just have a looped animation and don't really use up any resources that the player can't really interact with: similar to the Hitman™ crowds.

    Documents
In the main game, we find readable scraps of paper or little pieces of writing that add a great sense of depth to the game-world. The ability to add this to the editor would present infinite possibilities for horror-map creators and the like.

These are my suggestions to allow for the editor to fully realize its potential. I'm anxious to hear other people's suggestions.

good ideas...however with the last update, I dont know why one would even try to make a map that can't be played or tested.

    I like your suggestions.
My concerns are inline with yours and I'd like to add a few things.

    Waterfalls, Streams, Rivers

I'd like to see these water sources perform in the completed map, the same way they do in the game.
Waterfalls actually appear to bend over rocks, follow river banks and even include realistic 'foam' along the edges of the streams and rivers actually look and feel like rivers in that they follow the terrain slopes and curves.

    Utility Poles
I'd like to see some power lines that can be stretched between the Utility Poles. As of now, I've been using small zip lines but their are restrictions on zip lines that don't allow me to Play or Publish a map when using zip lines in this way.

    Interaction with objects
I'd like to see Levers and Switches that when interacted with, can be used to set a charge, open or close doors etc.
Maybe some Logic Gates that can be wired together for some interesting effects.

    Terrain Pallet and Roads

I'd like to see the terrain pallet with more textures that work well together. Since we are limited to 4 textures in each map, I have a difficult time choosing textures that can match and serve double duty, unless we get 6 pallet options in which case, the textures should be more compatible and sensical. Difficult to explain without showing a Map or textures here. Just hope you get my meaning.

Roads are another story. I've seen the same road texture in Ubisoft maps able to be used in 2 distinct sections. I cannot duplicate that in the editor.

For example, Asphalt. The editor allows me only to place it down as a continuous string of points, But the Ubisoft map shows the same Asphalt road texture being used twice and without being connected to form a loop. I want that ability in the editor.

The circular selection for road points should be smaller in diameter to allow me to place road points closer together. Perhaps this works well on PC, but not so much with a console controller.

    Trains and Tracks

I'd like to see more Engines, Railcars, Boxcars, Tankcars, Cattlecars to choose from.

I'd like railroad tracks that I can laydown the same way I use the Road tool.

    Weather

I'd like to see the weather fixed. As for now, adding rain to a map looks more like birdshi- falling from the sky infront of my face, and not so convincing in a map or on the terrain.

Lightning needs work too. Their seems to be no distance from the player, length of brightness for a strike, or even a means of showing bolts between clouds or behind clouds. There is no real delay between a lightning strike and the sound.. so all lightning effects seem to be odd and direct strikes near the player.. in terms of brightness and distance.

    Distance measurement
I'd like some way to see or measure distance. Through the Binoculars, or road markers or in the editor... a means of measurement to place objects in a more realistic distance from each other object. An example would be Utility Poles. In real life, those poles are 50 meters apart and the only way for me to measure that distance for placement is to use the generic shapes to count out 50 meters.

That is about all I have for now, it's from a list of wishes I have written here on my desk.

I want to see map picking that would be a good option. Since they already had it they should bring it back. Before the new battlefield game comes out.

This is an Arcade Editor thread, related to Arcade Editor improvements we would like to see.

I want to see map picking that would be a good option. Since they already had it they should bring it back. Before the new battlefield game comes out.
Last time I checked, the only Map picking to be done with the Arcade Editor, is your choice of making Assault, Journey, Death Match, Team Death Match etc., for people that are actually making the maps for Arcade to play them in. Is it possible that you commented in the wrong thread or am I missing something?

UBISOFT should just call up the old server coders from FAR CRY 2 and this game would of been golden with server browsers. UBISOFT rather see us ticked off though.
