It's all in the little details of telling a story, part 2 ...

    No spoilers involved:

Went ahead and defeated Faith because, unlike John, I can't leave her someplace as I can John at the church. So back to the jail ...

After the last cut scene, if you interact with Tracey and the sheriff, there's no new dialog from them. That's boring, as there's more to be done in the region (but I'm hoping the next patch will modify in some way the current environment of the Henbane River).

In addition, when you talk with the sheriff note that his holster is empty .... Tracey at least still has her weapon.

And lastly, while the interior of the jail has been "cleaned up", the outside remains as it was since the liberation of the jail.

It's the little things that do get noticed. The significance of such is of course debatable ...

Debatable, hell, with Ubi, such things are uncertain. After all, there's usually so many bugs in their games, it's hard to tell what is intentional design, or a byproduct of rushed development and inadequate play testing.

And when you interact with the cougar NPCs (not that you need to do so), they have new dialog for you, the player. Go figure ...

Funny you mention cougars, because I just saw on the news a couple mt bikers were attacked by one near where I live, one getting killed, and it's extremely rare. It's only the 2nd time it's happen in 100 years. It was pretty big too. They estimated it to be about 3 years old and over 100 pounds. I know they get bigger elsewhere, but that's big for here.

I recall several years ago another mt biker was attacked by one in our state, except closer to the coast. He was a former wrestler in school. He smartly got behind his bike and used it as a defense barrier to bash it away. Somehow he got it into a head lock and scared it and it ran off.

The funny thing is, the one that killed this guy just recently also ran off after they scared it away. You're supposed to make yourself look as big as possible, flaring your coat, raising your arms, and make lots of noise and maintain eye contact. If you run it just encourages them to attack.

The thing is though, it circled around and came back. By then one of them had ran up a small slope to call 911, but in the process it got his friend. Since this kind of occurrence is so rare and even wildlife officials are confused by it, they're actually taking an autopsy of the cougar to study it's brain to see if maybe it had a disease that affected it mentally.

I used to mt bike a lot solo when I was younger. I'd sometimes go on epic 60 mile single track rides with over 10,000' of climbing. Once I was in the middle of a ride having just climbed a forestry road and was about to head down the trail. A small crew of foresters whom were stopped there after passing me in the truck on the way up the road asked me if I saw the cougar off the side of the road up on a high bank. I said no, I couldn't see much because their truck was kicking up a lot of dust in front of me. They warned me they like to stalk prey from above them, and jump down when you're not looking, I said I know. I wasn't too worried because the trail I was going down was fairly steep and fast and a ways from where they saw it. I figured I'd be gone well before it could smell or stalk me, but it gave me insensitive to keep a fast pace.

Now that I look back at things, I guess I was lucky having done so many long remote rides solo. The only time I've ever seen potentially threatening wildlife was on a backpacking trip in Sept. It was a full size dark brown female bear fattening up on berries at the side of the trail, right where the entry trail met the main loop trail. She ran off the direction I was about to go immediately. I decided it was time to take a break and eat a snack and drink some water and tighten my boots before heading that way. I mean she was only less than 10' to the right of me as I stepped onto the main trial. After camping a little ways beyond the end of the trail near the top of a mountain in my bivvy, across from a great mountain view, I saw a small brown bear cub the next morning when getting to the bottom of that mountain trail, which was back the direction of the loop I was taking. It was no doubt the cub of that mama bear, and why she sped off in a hurry. Again, I stayed back, just admiring the beautiful little golden brown thing, being glad I had not startled it and drawn it's mamma's wrath.

The wilderness can be so beautiful, but also turn deadly in an instant if you so much as take a wrong turn.

OMG, never mind, I thought you meant cougar animals. I forgot there were the cougars that wear the buttons. Should have known when you said NPCs. LOL

I shall sneak out the back door and quietly walk away with my tale between my legs now.
