So, Orochi's rework is currently set to change the input of the Riptide strike into a light instead of a heavy thereby removing the ability to execute foes on a successful Riptide - one of the most satisfying and unique moves in the entire game to pull off in my humble opinion. I propose several alternatives to the developers so that we do not have to lose this awesome and unique move in the process of buffing the Orochi.
1) Simply leave the original Riptide in with its original input, speed and damage right alongside the new reworked riptide. The Orochi loses nothing from this since he gets his new riptide anyway and nor does he gain an OP advantage for having the original Riptide remain in his list of moves/options. It will be there simply as another option and will keep all of us Orochi fans really happy because we won't be losing this iconic and satisfying yet very situational move.
2) Forget the reworked Riptide with its new light attack input and instead re-tweak the heavy input Riptide. Keep its speed and damage the same but make it able to be held for as long as you hold down the heavy attack button so as to mess with parry timings and also make it able to be cancelled out of like Valkyrie's shield holding stance, thereby avoiding being easily baitable. In addition make it so you can soft feint it into a side dodge strike. This will make the move more versatile and thus more viable but without removing the iconic part about it which is its heavy attack property which leads into an execution.
3) Incorporate the original heavy input Riptide animation into the new reworked Storm Rush mind game. When going for a quick top heavy from storm rush, as apposed to holding it and then going for the top heavy, let the attack play out like the original Riptide animation complete with the back step and then lunge and the i-frames necessary to avoid attacks when timed correctly. This is similar to my first suggestion but the difference is that it will be an extension of the new storm rush move set rather than a stand alone Riptide, meaning that it can be used as a chain starter which the original stand alone Riptide could not.
So what do people think? Personally I like the first suggestion as it is the simplest to do and doesn't really mess with anything. I would greatly appreciate it if the forum reps could pass this on to the developers. It's a long shot as I reckon they have already made up their minds about the new riptide but I am hoping they can be convinced to listen to productive feedback that aims to simply keep this iconic move in the game instead of deleting it forever. They found a way to keep the Kensei's iconic heavy jump attack after all as it was a part of that character's soul and identity so hopefully they can seize the opportunity to do the same for the Orochi as well.
Thanks kindly.

@topic , i love how they low key nerfed Orochi by turning riptide into a light. Its kinda hillarious.
I don't agree. It's definitely a buff to Riptide because it is faster and less reactable but they buffed it rather clumsily in my opinion because they got rid of the iconic riptide execute which is a big part of Orochi's soul as a character. They don't need to remove the riptide execute in order to adequately buff it, any one of the 3 suggestions I posted would work without deleting an iconic move from this hero's moveset.Originally Posted by KitingFatKidsEZ Go to original post
I really don't get the dev's logic on this seeing as how neither Kensei, Conq nor Beserker lost any of their trademark moves for their reworks. They either got repositioned in their kit or simply left in but buffed. They can do the exact same for the Orochi if they really wanted to. I'm hoping they will see the light.
