Hopefully Santa is bringing the new DVD. I've e-mailed the info to my wife enough that she must have gotten the hint.

Has it only been since 2002? Back in the 90's, I started flight sims with Red Baron. Terrible sim, but I loved it. There was a demo for Warbirds on the CD and that became an addiction. You paid by the hour back then and there were charges on my VISA for over $100 some months. Made friends with others on-line that still last to this day. Moved to Aces High and somehow found out about IL2. IL2 opened up and entire perspective of WWII aviation that I never new existed. The MIG3UD and operations in the snow have become a passion. It feels like a lot longer than 2002.

This 46 thing is going to be a great end to this series.... I still get blown away by the fact that when I first came here in 02 all there was was IL2. FB started out with 71 aircaft - 31 flyable.

229 flyables..... covering 4 fronts..... hundreds of objects.... spanning basically the entire war and beyond. Works for me. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I agree with you, Bearcat. I'm completely blown away by the series and what the team has done. It's definitely more than I could have ever asked for.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

A hand goes to the community too. Oleg's created a once in a lifetime sim, and the community took it and ran. They've created missions, campaigns, and skins, thus increasing the enjoyment and longevity to IL2/PF......

I preordered the 46 addon, and im now waiting like a kid for it... funny that the last time i was this excited about an addon for a game, was way back in 95 or 96 (IIRC) when the BGN pack for Nascar Racing 3 came out... or better yet when the marine fighters pack came out for USNF.. anyone remember thaat game(its part of the Fighters Anthology, which i still play lol).

i have yet to be dissappointed by the quality of the product that has been released- what i meant by disaster was how it was distributed...

Now, i love this sim, and its one of the 4 or 5 games that i have installed, and play on a daily basis, but i would love to see this same sort of "IL-2" phenomenon (sp) happen with a Korean, Vietnam or Cold War jet sim... IMHO that area of simming is still a largely uncharted territory and im hoping that someone picks it up (as was done with Wings over Vietnam and Strike Fighters, but more support, tho it has a pretty good base as it is).

Now im sure that you guys have seen this but how wild does this thing look to fly?

i love the pilot's position, and just how insane it looks like it will be in combat.... how i wish there was a rocket pack to use now lol...

Oh and about the community.... if it wasnt for the massive amount of users and ability and talent of many of them, im not sure where this series would be, but im sure it wouldnt be at this point..

I am playing user created campaigns and missions that are so detailed and so much fun, that its actually hard to step back and say that this is just a game... and i like that. theres nothing worse than spending money for a product that you get bored of or that dosent live up to your expectations... this thankfully, hasnt been one, and im glad i gave it a second chance.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

    Hi Guy's,

Can I just add a big Yes! to the "Korean War" for this series.

It will probably not happen, but If ever I've seen the perfect viehicle for it, it is Il2.

Just a BTW question, Wasn't there some problem with Gruman aircraft that was precluding this from happening?

    Have Fun,

    Alex

It seems like RRG's next project is some kind of a Cold War title based on 1C's "Storm of War" engine. Korea? Most likely, but this has not yet been confirmed. It would seem to be a logical evolution for RRG because they can further apply their Manchuria and '46 expertise.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Who knows what happens to Il-2 series now?

Someone who attended the Birmingham IFC confirmed that RRG's sim is the Korean War. And uses the SoW engine. Fun!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

LOL Phil!!!!!! You're absolutely right concerning the large hard drives. I've got 4 HD's on my system (3 video editing scratch discs) and they take forever to defrag.

No one ever mentions that when they tout the latest and greatest for Hard Drive specs. LOL

I wonder if VISTA will have an improved defrag system. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Pick yourself up a copy or download of Diskeeper 10 m8. It puts the Windows defragger to shame. It is alot quicker and can be scheduled to run at a more conveinient time like when you are sleeping. Well worth the $$$ spent for it imo.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
