There's a big problem though
I did the same as you and pre-ordered, but now my Xmas shopping and running around must all be complete by Dec 12 or 13th or else it simply won't get done after '46 arrives

Hahahaa! DO what I'm gonna do, just give them all MONEY! Let them go shopping for what they want as it's much more fun for them and saves me the trouble of returning things and so on. That way you can play 1946 all ya want!

Yeah Phil the only disaster about the Pe-2 add on was the distribution. It was actually a pretty good package. The Pe-2 is a good plane as well. This 46 thing is going to be a great end to this series.... I still get blown away by the fact that when I first came here in 02 all there was was IL2. FB started out with 71 aircaft - 31 flyable.
229 flyables..... covering 4 fronts..... hundreds of objects.... spanning basically the entire war and beyond. Works for me.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Yeah, i first got IL2 for christmas back in 2002, but i just never got into it. i had it sitting in the box for the longest time. it was only after reading a lot of user reviews, seeing the screenshots and IIRC finding this forum that i gave it a good chance to see what it could do. and i am glad i did- i have had more fun with this WW2 sim than any other i have played before; there is more options for user flyable aircraft that the list almost rivals that of the old Janes "Fighters Anthology" (which i still play) where you could fly just about anything imaginable, and it was just fun. Tho i will say that back in the day, secret weapons of the Luftwaffe, and, i forget the real title, but the aces over the pacific and aces over europe series were a ton of fun, and had a lot of what IL2 has- which is a lot of history, with a lot of airplanes, with a pinch of what if... IMHO its why it makes for a great piece of software that i hope will run on every computer i own from here out
But, as for PE-2, idk i am not a real big fan of downloading a program i paid for- i have always liked having a copy that came from a factory so that i know all appropriate steps have been taken to make sure that the disc lasts. burned cds seem to not last as long, and then thers the off chance of a burner mess up and what happens when you do a fresh install of your OS? is it like iTunes which forces you to repay for the stuff you already bought?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Its kinda funny how you're braggins about your computer and it looks really powerfull but what's up with 160gig of HD, that pretty weak, with your specs you have to have like 1.4 TB (thats for terabyte).
Sorry its off topic, but its kinda funny.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Im not really bragging,(there is no 'ooo i have this, yours sucks', etc. etc.), i just use that as my sig because the questions i have asked in the past, often relate to game preformance and settings, and the question often comes up, what i have. Instead of having to rewrite it i just put it there...
I dont have to have anything i didnt want... on this computer, i got everything i wanted, but a huge hard drive is not one of those things.
When i built my system, i had the option to get the TB drive that Alienware offers. Yea it was an extra 8 or 9 hundred bucks at the time, but i figured i hate waiting 3 plus hours for my old 60g to defrag, and i am sure that the more full the larger drives get, the longer it takes to do basic system maintnence, which i do weekly, if not more than once a week.
I have found that the larger the hard drive, the more of a wasteland of files it becomes; people seemingly save any and everything, and then never find it again on these massive drives.
Plus, having a "smaller" hard drive forces me to backup my information often and clean out the drive, which is fine by me. Id rather have tons of backup CDs and an (almost) empty HD than a huge one and risk losing it all if there is a system failure, of if i have to do a fresh install of windows. So far it is working out nicely for me, and i have no complaints. All my illustrator and photoshop projects, my portfolio, my lessons and outcomes, all my powerpoint and other work related materials are all stored on CDs and i dont have any real fear of losing them if my computer crashes... And i backup the computer about once a month..
I have never been one to store tons and tons of random stuff on my HD... It also makes swapping work that i have done on my Alienware to other computers that i work on, including my laptop, easy. I dont have to worry about checking my email on "strange" computers and sending large filesizes.
As it is right now, i think i only use about 45 or 50 of that 160g hd... if that much. It dosent bother me at all to have a "small" drive, heck till now, i dont think i gave it much thought, other than when i hit the little check box the day i ordered it...
