    fishing with mouse keyboard

Fighting fish with mouse and keyboard is flawed. Mouse must be continuously reset even when used at highest dps and max acceleration is set. It should not be necessary to set dps and acceleration to even have a chance of success. Also should not be necessary to constantly lift mouse from pad to reset.

Fishing is easy for controllers, while fishing with mouse is almost impossible without making changes to game/mouse settings.

As for normal fishing to earn some cash as well as get the specific challenge perks I haven't found fishing to be an issue with my trackball - that is once I got the hang of how the fishing mechanics work in the game.

To repeat a phrase often used on the forums - "your mileage may differ."

When struggling to catch the admiral, I watched a couple vids of guys doing it in less than 5 minutes. Since they were both using gamepads and reeling in much faster than I was on KB/M, I thought the same, that it's way easier on pad.

Well, it might be, but I read some comments below one of the vids, and though I didn't follow his advice to the T of getting on one of the small islands and pulling the fish a certain direction, I DID pay attention to his saying to keep the rod low, and used the tip of the long thin peninsula as my cast point. Trust me, keeping the rod low solves 90% of the problems with mouse fishing. I was able to land him in less than 5 min with the grade 2 rod.

The rod you get for completing that mission is also WAY easier to fish with, yet it is still vulnerable to line snapping. On mouse you have to make sure you do not pull at a severe angle or especially reel at a severe angle. It is true as well in real life fishing that such things stress the line more. It's just that it's more emphasized on mouse for some unknown (cough bug) reason.

And btw, I was able to get faster and longer reeling with the low rod method than before. It wasn't as good as the guys using the gamepads in the vids, but good enough to get the job done pretty quick. I kept the rod mostly straight too, only momentarily tugging lightly to one side to keep him from running away.

While trying to keep the rod low, I have to keep moving the mouse down and keep running out of mouse pad so have to lift the mouse and reset it to middle of the pad then have to keep moving in down all the time so constantly resetting the mouse. Then when line is turning red and run out of mouse pad and resetting it, rod goes high and line snaps. Fishing is supposed to be a fun way to relax from the riggers of fighting and warfare. In this game with a mouse it just leads to frustration and disappointment.

Maybe this is just my setup, does this happen to you?

No, which is why I found it odd you said you have to keep moving mouse down to keep the rod low. It might be that you aren't lightly tugging (moving mouse up if he runs straight away, left if he runs right, and right if he runs left) to keep him from running. It only need be done lightly to keep his direction under control. Then when the line is not yellow or red, reel him in.

I doubt it's your setup, but just in case it has anything to do with it, my mouse is a Logitech G402, with DPI set to 1040. I forgot that I left the polling rate set to 125 too, because one game I was playing had worse hitching at 500 or more. I'm going to set it at 500 and see if it makes any difference. Hopefully it will at least smooth out aiming a bit in the game.

The odd thing is, I'm actually getting a weird problem lately that started near the end of my past play through and has persisted in this new play through which may or may not be mouse related. When scrolling through the gun vendor menu, in going from one category block to another, I get this weird bright flickering now and then that also has lines shooting out of it. It kinda looks like graphical glitches, or artifacts as they're often called. I'm wondering if it was caused by my adjusting the brightness up and down a few times without quitting to the main menu. Then again it could be that I've not updated the GPU driver since the Far Cry 5 version came out, and there's been two new versions since.

Also while fishing on other locations I try to fish from boulders or even atop a vehicle as at times when you're fishing other animals will try to get into the act as well and being out of their reach helps. Fishing while atop a vehicle will allow them to do what they're programmed to do while I can concentrate on landing the fish!

Reminds me of a story I heard a LONG time ago about a guy people dubbed Slingshot Bill or something whom rigged up a giant slingshot on his pickup bed to cast his line far enough out into the very windy Columbia Gorge when Sturgeon fishing. By now more modern setups have been made that aren't vehicle mounted.

After the 1.5.0 update, now when I release the right mouse button, it continues to reel in the line for 5-6 seconds after releasing the button. Ubisoft has not even acknowledged that this is happening. I refuse to fish in the game until it is fixed. So apparently I won't ever be fishing in the game anymore. It is a shame since there are easy perk points for catching fish. But since the line keeps reeling after I release the button, the line breaks and makes it almost impossible to catch any fish.

I found fishing hard aswell. I have the second rod.
I have managed to catch hard fishes with that one though a bit tricky but it can be done.
But Admiral is freaking impossible for me.
I fished on a boat ,I fished on nearby islands no luck the freaking fish line breaks even when I don't try to do anything in hope for it too cooldown.
I tried every trick except the co-op thingie where one fish and one drive the boat.
I hate it, think it even might bugged up as Skylar stopped talking during the mission so not sure it's even Admiral on the hook anymore.
I would be so pissed if I fished and a ordinary fish hooked. So hope that was part of the mission and Skylar just became silent.

But yeah I have no control/gamepad so fishing with keyboard and mouse should be easier or done in another way.
