Of course fast roping is a pretty popular request..but one thing needs to be addressed...if you're fast roping, who's piloting the helicopter? You would need a pilot besides yourself in order to implement this feature.
Anyone have any potential solutions that could realistically be applied to this? To be honest it seems like it would be a pretty heavy workload for the developers to find a way for an AI to pilot and on top of that add a fast roping feature. I don't know much about video game development but that sounds like a lot on top of their usual workload as well as also working on additional content that's to be added. I'd love to see this happen but someone with some game development knowledge answer how realistic this is for them to develop?
More modern advanced helicopters have some autopilot features. While I doubt the smaller copter in GRW would be fitted, the big santa blanca copters look fairly modern and advanced in comparison. Theres no reason you could simply say to have engaged autopilot, make some narrative excuse like "autopilot wont hold it forever", rope down to your target, and when on the ground, have the chopper veer off and crash elsewhere.
Fast roping could be really cool.
correct me if I'm wrong but the helicopters should be able to be controlled from both seats in the cockpit. so just ad the ability to "hire" a rebel pilot that when you press the button to switch seats it gives them control. next give a special command selection of "rase/lower altitude" and "go to" the "go to" command would make the pilot hover over the spot you pointed at and get to a set altitude. once at that spot and settled toll be given the option to "fast rope". once on the ground the pilot will just fly away. maybe a way to make this work would be to only have the pilot as an option is if you called in the helo from rebel support.
I don't think so. we already have ai pilots, just shooting at you. when a convoy stops what does the helicopter do? it stops above the truck. so have it use your "go there" command to act like the truck and after you get out its just scripted to fly in a random direction for .5-1 kilometer before it dspawns
That. It is such a minor feature when it comes to effect for the gameplay, while it involves a lot of work - from AI, to UI, to animations,... It's definitley not anywhere near my priority list for this game.Originally Posted by GiveMeTactical Go to original post
