Quite the tidy workshop Cyberwings. That looks like a beautiful Hellcat too

Right now I'm in the process of filling in panel lines on my Hunter. I'm using white out for this. However, with the wedge-applicator it's getting everywhere and I have to sand like crazy.

I was wondering if anyone had a neater and less wasteful method of applying the stuff?

Gheh it almost looks like a UV mapped 3d model skin!

LF - I especially like the ruts in the muddy road - very convincing.

JG - Looking good as usual.

Romanator - I met a guy at an airshow last year who flies Hunters. He was there standing next to his plane telling people all about it. Very sexy.

Like the layout Cyber! Great composition.

Here's my next up. Won't even play "guess that cockpit" since the yoke gives it away.

Cockpit is painted and assembled, futured and oil washed

    Dry fitting has begun

This thread is great inspiration chaps, some really excellent work here . I've got a Hasegawa 1/48 Spitfire IX that I'm itching to get started with. Trouble is I've not built a kit in years so I'm starting from scratch and need to get some tools together first. It will also be the first kit that I intend to airbrush, so be prepared for some 'how not to' photos in the near future...

Lol, there isn't such a thing as "how not to". I hope

So, I've puttied about half the fuselage. It turns out that acryllic paint works well in the tiny grooves, so I'll be using that instead of white out for this job. White out sounded like a good idea (and still is for larger repairs) but is taking much too long to sand. I used silver sharpie as primer to make imperfections more visible, and there are a lot. I will have to make another pass at filling. A couple hours (not counting breaks) of sanding, and the fuselage half (not counting the wings and tail surfaces!) is still not done. Ugh. I should have bought something with RAISED panel lines. That Airfix Boomerang looks like it will need less sanding than this!

The goal of all this will hopefully be something that looks like this, in British markings, and a little less weathered. The lines in the photo (all three ) will have to be a vague impression created by paint alone. I hope it works,

    Here's some new WIP pictures.

I painted, futured and weathered the landing gear bays before installing them in the nacelles, or booms, or whatever.

To make sure that I don't have a tail sitter I stuffed four nickels in each of the nacelles and secured it with poster putty. Adds quite a bit of weight - feels good a hefty now.

Few more seam lines to sand away and some rescribing, then I can start in with the Alclad.

Nickels! Oh my, you're making me look cheap!

Really nice work so far. When it's done, I'd like to see a shot like the one in your sig

Looks like you're right. Nick, the pilot of your P-38 might find shooting his guns a bit difficult with trigger button pointing his knees . You better take care of that before the canopy is mounted!

    Cheers - Art
