    How "hard" is Hard?

I recently re-started the game after clearing out one and a half zones. I wanted to check out a few things, but I ended up starting the game in Normal mode.

Unfortunately, I pretty quickly came across my Holy Grail of citizen fighters ... a hoarder/spotter combo. Carrying extra ammo and spotting enemies is everything I look for in a citizen soldier.

I checked out what I needed to see, but if I restart again, I'll lose my unicorn.

How much harder is the Hard mode? More enemies? Are they more accurate? Better AI?

Basically, is it worth it to start over, yet again, on Hard mode?

You should be able to change difficulty at any time from options screen. But honestly....for a decent/good player and not intentionally gimping yourself...ie using only handguns and bows or some such....hard isn't hard. Especially if you have any special or bonus weapons or simply know where to get a m60 early and actually use it. Between M60, and a SA50 you don't really need anything else, though I like having a bow and the SA50 just for playstyle. Once you get the 4th holster and can run a bow, SA50, M60 and a suppressed 1911 or the sig...game is pretty easy no matter what setting you have it on.

Mind you this is my opinion, and some people say they can tell a difference, but I usually can't tell most times or wish they had a harder setting....not one that just packed on HP so it takes twice the bullets to kill people but something to make it more difficult, such as larger spawns of enemies, more in bases, more intelligence or something. Oh, and NO mind reading AI that knows you are there when you walk into their area, just better than what they are.

First, what @modmcsupersport stated pretty much sums it up, especially the first para.

Second, from what I can tell (and read), you take more damage on Hard versus Normal. So depending on skill and play style it might not hurt to get that second extra increase in health perk level beyond only getting the first one. Also keep fishing/hunting/looting to always have enough cash and just keep buying armor vests when possible (besides picking it up in the numerous locations throughout the game world.

Inktank44, playing hard level don't forget to switch off HUD! Outposts' stealth liberation without HUD is rather exciting occupation! Use weapons that you would find and use in real life. Imagine that some kind of civil war is going on in America. But in the future hard level should be especially worked out by developers. I think it must be very close to reality. In everything! But not fake masochism! And, Inktank44, don't use "fast travel" in the game.

I know this is a couple days old, but in case others are wondering, another difference between Normal and Hard is Health regen. It's much, much slower. So you may actually find yourself using medkits from time to time. But like others have said before, this game is honestly easy even on the Hard difficulty. It's quite disappointing and hopefully Ubisoft releases a hardcore version that improves enemy stats and maybe increases the number of them as well in conflicts.

Thanks for pointing out the health regen difference between the difficulty settings. I honestly hadn't taken the time to notice once I switched from Normal to Hard.

Spot on regarding this release of the Far Cry series as it pertains to how difficult it actually isn't when it comes to damage received by the player.
