update screwed up the fishing mechanic and running

Their latest update screwed up the fishing mechanic, now I keep on reeling line even after I stop and all the fish run away and I keep on pulling my line after I stop so I keep breaking my line even when I'm not pulling. Also my running has been messed with so I have to keep telling him to run when normally he would keep going for a while.

    Hi J_Roesler,
Yeah, I also noticed that the fishing mechanics changed after one of the updates....reeling does not stop immediately....there is now about a third-of-a-second delay in the stoppage of reeling after letting go of your mouse button. Four things to try when fishing.....

First, instead of just holding your mouse button down to reel the line in, try to fast-click the mouse button. I don't know why, but it seems to attract the fish more consistently.

Second, when reeling, only watch the line...be aware of the color changes in the line. I can't wait until it turns red anymore, or it breaks. Stop reeling sooner...but help yourself by only watching the line.

Third, do not fish with the rods that are found on the ground...these are the weakest rods. There are four rods available...each higher one is more capable (stronger line, faster reeling, etc.). However, since you have to complete a lot of missions to get rods #3 and #4, you have to go to a weapons vendor to get rod #2...do it early in the game, since the stronger line on that rod will help a lot. To find the rods available, go to the vendor, go to the weapons available (yeah, they consider the rods are weapons), click on the icon that looks like a sun, on the right. This is the same icon you would use to find LMGs, Bows, Flamethrowers, etc. Scroll all of the way past those items, and go to the final items listed...the rods. Select #2.

Finally, each of the types of fish have a unique length of time before they get tired of fighting. Be patient, and you will get them every time.

Have fun with this feature of the game.

    Fishing bugs

I also just discovered the issues with the fishing mechanics. First time fishing after Title Update 7. I dragged my line to the right to oppose the paddlefish I was trying to get, and the fish snapped over in the direction I moved my mouse. When the fish collided with the opposite shoreline, my line broke. This happened about three more times. It's impossible that this was an intended feature, because it was completely unnatural and obviously a bug. Lets hope there's a patch soon...

humm, I have caught every fish in the game with a "pick-up" rod some of them almost 90# and never even knew ya could change the bait (just toss'd the line and caught fish every time). The first time I did it I never lost a fish or broke the line - since that time my line has broken only once in 5 play-throughs of the game (I only fish for the perks).
