With the previous versions of Far Cry I quickly became absorbed in the games and couldn't wait to get started on my next gaming session. Here I am with an entire evening free to play and I have instead spent two hours surfing the net reading forums instead of playing the game which is already fired up on my Xbox.
I'm dreading getting started because I am stuck in the Death Wish mission as I was for my entire game time last night. Still trying to figure out the vehicle mechanics work so that I can somehow auto-follow the Death Wish and somehow aim the pistol at the driver to kill him. The only way I have figured out how to auto-follow it is to make it a waypoint. Unfortunately as soon as I catch up to it, the auto-follow stops following them. Very frustrating and not much fun.
For some reason I feel my character being pushed along the main mission path knowing that if I spend to much time wandering around enjoying the game, the missions will auto-complete without me getting to enjoy them.
The best part of the previous games for me was that it was a large open world that I could wander around and tackle at my own pace and in my own order. I loved hunting for ingredients to do the crafting. Actually enjoyed all of the towers, searching for collectibles, conquering bases.
Far Cry 5 has lost the magic of the previous games for me. I think they have tried to target a certain portion of their player base, but in the process have dropped the ball on the rest of us.
Pre-ordered as soon as it became possible last year and waited excitedly for the entire year.
Very sad!!!
I feel the same way about this game, they have gutted the core elements that the past games had....that wanted you to come back for more, my biggest beef with 5 is the continues spawning every 5 to 10 seconds it ruins the experience and fun out of the game. Maybe ubisoft can improve things with future patches but the rate there going it might be xmas before we see any results?
I felt the same way unfortunately. I really did give it a go and actually pushed through and finished the game, but I just couldn't get to the point of enjoying it (for many of the reasons stated and more).
I never set my expectations high for this title thinking I wouldn't be disappointed if I did. .....or so I thought.
I've since returned to FarCry 4 which has TONS more content. Alongside this I am replaying Mad Max too.
A week and a half before FC5 came out I played 4 for the first time and loved it so much that I pre-ordered 5. I finished the game with 80hrs played and had a lot of content still to do (the white tiger dream quests for example. So I have returned to finish those off and any Outpost Assassination quests because in 4, once you capture an outpost you get quite a few quests nearby to do and there are a lot more outposts.
Compare that to 5 - forced encounters coupled with a resistance bar I have complained about since day 1. Folks since the first week of release have been giving Ubisoft valuable feedback on both Reddit and these forums and only now they've asked about NG+ and it's validity? This was an required feature from the moment folks started finishing the game in a measley 20hrs (I did mostly everything in 25) and had nothing to do. I finished Jacob's region by 'accident' in 7hrs after being thrown into a forced encounter with him and losing about 2-3 Eli missions in the process. It was downwards from there as I realised I couldn't really play the game the way I wanted, especially without the far superior/rewarding XP system gone - so now you have to kill enemies in specific ways dictated by the 'Challenges' system. All of this doesn't feel like the FarCry I once knew.
Something wrong with the story missions in this game! Once I was liberating an outpost and suddenly one of the main missions started. I was not ready. Next time on my way to the mission, when I was pretty close to the point, random enemies started attacking me.......I've lost time to fighting against them.....and when I came to the mission point - mission was over!I don't know to laugh or to cry.....but this is definitely not good.
I like when there is a sign - "start the mission"
