    Global grid for generic shapes

Dont know about pc but i don’t think the console editor has a global grid! This feature is a must have with no way to snap objects to the grid placing generic shapes can be really awkward a global grid even if its a grid of 1 metre grid sections would do it.

Well the idea behind the grid system :0.5, 1, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 is that if you use for example 32 grid, you can move away an object (or a group) which was well placed, work on the free area, and once you're done replace the object/group at the exact same place.
Some objects also includes the right dimensions to fit perfectly the grid system, and it's very usefull for shapes, barriers, fences and so on.

With that, you can go fast with no more overlaping between each objects.

    Ah I see.

Yea I don't map like that. If I move a group away to work on then I just find a corner and move the group back to exactly the same corner. I've not used the previous grids for anything. Mostly freehand. Do you work from plans? Must be a nightmare.

Ah no, nearly ten years ago i was using CryEngine 2 sandbox Editor, it had all the features needed to make awesome stuff.

The grid was very usefull to snap visareas, voxels, solids, custom shapes and loads of other things together, the problem is that once you have used this engine you'll have hard times going for less, but i have to say that with the Far cry 5 editor the auto nav mesh saves us a LOT of time.

its works with coordinates, but say for example you have a wall and you want to put i different size wall right next to it perfectly inline with no seams you will have to place it accurately by hand but you will probably sea some seams, i find these seams or overlaps to look very unprofessional

And that's why you'd use the Object Options - Edit Coordinates, so you can make precise movement and eliminate those seams/overlaps.

Yeah, the console version of the Editor doesn't have snap to object or resizeable grids like on PC, but editing the coordinates yields the same result pretty much, only it takes longer.

Exactly, use coordinates. You can line up any objects perfectly with no seams.

You can also dupe an object, rotate it 30 degrees, or 45 degrees or 90 degress or whatever and repeat to make perfect geometric shapes. Dead easy. A monkey could do it.

What's funny is that we already know that, and how those answers literally dodge the real problem, and what's even worse is the monkey part.
