Need Suggestions on Managing Control Zones and Animations

I am using an XBOX One system and thus far I am really enjoying the map editor and all which is possible. I have seen a few other posts and videos similar to my questions, but none were definitive (just assumptions), so I wanted to post my own. And,if there is such a post, please let me know...otherwise, please post some suggestions. The answers for the below might be common sense and apparently I don't have any of that at the moment...so please forgive if this is the case. Thank you!

If an AI's Control Zone (CZ) is named "Defend - 2", it does not mean I can find CZ "Defend - 2" because when I select a CZ, it only tells me what type of CZ it is...not a name. Plus they are all look exactly the same in the editor. The animations are not much better for me...#3 below.

    I know how to:
    -- add an AI
-- add a CZ and assign the AI to the CZ
-- add an animation (but not how to assign an AI to the animation)

After a bit of time, things tend to get lost in my mind due to the naming conventions of the CZ's being so random regardless of the type of CZ (defend, defend cautious, etc.).

    1. How do you match up and/or keep track of which "unnamed" CZ is assigned to which AI?
    2. Can you rename CZ's?
    3. What does each of the CZ types mean? Is there a list of definitions for the CZ types? Defend could be defend that spot the AI is in, so I am not sure...same for all of the others...another is Alarm 934 (whatever number) could mean AI is to set off that alarm but I cannot tell which alarm is 934 because they do not have a name when selecting them or if that is what the CZ type means.
    4. How do you assign an animation to an AI? I tried multiple tests, such as closest animation to AI. The last time there were two AI's, one to do jumping jacks and the other to squat down and wait. The one closest to the jumping jacks walked away...far away. The one who did the jumping jacks last time is now squatting and waiting...and for whatever reason a third different female AI showed up and began doing jumping jacks...omg...seems to me about as random as the CZ's.
    4. Some animations have male/female, but which male and female is assigned to which?

Any other suggestions about AI's, CZ's, animations or the like...please post those as well.

    Thank you all!

The animation points seem to be broken or work differently in FC5. You may want to try turning off "loop indefinitely" but I haven't messed with it enough yet to know. As for the control zones, you just have to keep track of them carefully. I discovered earlier today that when you go to assign A.I. to CZs there is a thin black line that will connect to the relevant CZ. As for how each of them work, think of them as levels of awareness with Defend being unaware, Defend Cautious=quicker reaction when they spot you, and Move and Defend they are at full alert and will react right away.

You make sense about the levels of awareness. And I suppose keeping up/managing the alarm CZ's is just as messy since those are named just as odd. I'll try turning off the loop and experimenting more I suppose...at least until UBISOFT (or others like yourself) can provide more info. Thanks!

Hi sadisticTrust. Animation point are a little bit awkward! If you want to the ai to use the Animation points you desire you have to space the animation points out! To many Animation points close to gether the ai will randomly choose one of the animation points but if there are no other animatin points near by the ai will choose the animation point! you want! Just try to space them out quite a bit, and put the ai you want to use the animation right next to the animation point. Hope this helps

Yes, that does help. I can see how two or more close together could confuse things...makes sense...it'd be like telling tow kids to do something in the house but not telling each one by name what do to specifically. Thanks!!

OMG...just gotta laugh at myself sometimes...but, yeah...there is a black line between the AI and CZ assigned...as you scroll through the various CZ's to assign the AI to the CZ you want, the line actually moves to each CZ from the AI. Thank you for pointing that out! Might have to go get some eye glasses...

I was allso thinking with animation points that you could put the animation points in the control zone and set the ai to move to the controllzone withe desired animation point

I can finally assign an AI to the following types of vehicles: car, truck (and assign to the rear gun), boat, jet ski and helicopter. Cannot figure out the plane...I did the same as the other vehicles. If you or anyone else knows, please share with the class. .

In case someone wants to know how to assign AI to a vehicle.
    1. Create Vehicle
    2. Create AI (or AI's) and put him/her/them next to vehicle...I've been putting them on the drivers side kinda close, but not right on it.
    3. Create "Move and Defend" CZ somewhere and assign AI (or AI's) to CZ...all AI's to the same CZ if multiple AI's.
    4. Explore

I really want to figure out how to make the AI and the vehicle patrol on a certain path...I hope UBISOFT put that in here!

Sadistic, there are a couple of videos on youtube from a guy who is console mapping and he shows how to set up control points Ai behavior and how to get them to get in and drive vehicles to locations. Well worth your time.

Here's a list of Animation Points, along with some information that explains how Animation Points are considered: http://list.farcry.info/?path=STP
