FINALLY! News on Title Update 5!

    "Scheduled Maintenance - May 1st

    Hello everybody,

Far Cry 5 will be undergoing maintenance on all platforms on Tuesday, May 1st, starting at 09:00 EDT/13:00 UTC.

The estimated downtime for this maintenance is 2 hours.
Some online services may be unavailable during this time.

We will be deploying Title Update 5. Patch notes will be shared closer to the day of the maintenance.

    Thank you for your understanding,
    The Far Cry Community Team"

Interestingly enough - I have shelved FC5 and gone back to playing FC2 on my old PS3 console - now there's a real FC game - no hud, no tagging, real weather and time controls for missions and even better graphics and details than the current offering, IMHO..

I will be looking forward to see whether patch 5 fixes things or makes 'em worse for us single player folks that have no interest in Arcade, CO-OP or multi-player.........

    @SeanRubin

Me too! We've been waiting too long for this update. Looks like we don't have to wait too much longer. 😁

The point being, in FC2 you can't, by design. No hand holding built into the game, as there was to follow.

But if one feels that way about hand-holding HUDs, disable them. The fact that there was no HUD by default (which isn't even correct anyway, as FC2 had the weapon type, ammo count and health bars in bottom right of screen, which couldn't be turned off) is irrelevant.

Not irrelevant in the least. As is the case now, ammo, weapon type, medical info indicators weren't (and aren't) always on the screen (i.e., you're "checking" your med kit, or checking your ammo load, as might take place irl). They fade out.

By HUD it's those indicators which after FC2 were ALWAYS on the screen. Vanilla FC3 you had no option (thank gawd for PC modding to remove them). FC4 was patched to give players the option, and 5 was released with the option.

There's no option in FC2, you play without hand-holding, while you must in 3 and still possible to do currently.

I don't understand. Why MUST you play with hand-holding? I don't understand why you're making a big thing about FC2 didn't have HUD options. What does that have to do with anything?

FC5 is the first in the series (not counting Primal) that has an option to FULLY disable all HUD and prompts. In FC2 little indicators were popping up all the time. Every weapon swap opportunity you got an icon prompt, every time your health was poor you got an icon prompt. Every time you used a throwable you got an icon prompt. Every time you came to a vehicle you got an icon prompt.

There's none of this in FC5 if you disable them.

And for the OP to suggest FC2 had better graphics is just ridiculous. Maybe better physics in some areas, but graphics?? Go watch some FC2 gameplay and tell me there wouldn't have been an absolute uproar if this is what we'd got with FC5.

We hope that the patch to come with fix many of the issues our players have been experiencing in the past month. I still encourage players to provide us feedback on anything you find bothersome that may need to be looked into. A more detailed list of what will be fixed will be released shortly. The thread I've made over a month ago many of our community members have been using that as a frame of reference to bring to the development team.
