Utterly baffled by ending (major spoilers)

Okay, good or bad, that’s not what I want to talk about. I chose the ‘resist’ ending and, as anyone who did likewise will know, Joseph triggers a nuclear bomb and the game ends with your character handcuffed to a chair in Joseph’s bunker, with him spouting his ********, telling you you’re one of his now etc etc. End credits roll.

I hit continue on menu screen and find myself right at the top of an arias mast. I climb down and do a little exploring, finding civilians as the various huts, etc.

    1. Where’s Joseph supposed to be now?

    2. How did I escape his bunker?

    3. How did everyone else survive the nuc bomb?

One shred of comfort is that I didn’t get the end credits loop bug.

I'm glad you didn't get the end game loop glitch.

The bad ending was very interesting to say the least.. Makes you think fc6 will be set in a post apocalypse.

It’s still kind of up in the air as far as I know regarding this; it could be just for gameplay reasons, but a popular theory (and one I’ve accepted as canon) is that the “Resist” events were just a result of the high amounts of Bliss you were exposed to during your fight with Joseph, and that the bombs never actually went off. I personally believe that Joseph actually succumbed to his injuries. As for why the Dep was on top of the radio tower on Dutch’s island, I still don’t know

Don't over think it, this is just a typical way FarCry handles after ending free roam. If you ever played FC3, and went the "evil" ending and killed your companions, you got a fun time with Citra, and a knife to the heart...dead...credits....then open free roam in the map. So basically, you got the ending, then the credits, aka story over, and after that everything is bonus and not part of the story.

There are some games that once you do the final mission, you can't do anything else...some people hate this, others like it, but Ubi chose the other path of game ends give bonus time, which some people like, others don't.

Regarding free roam: as has been said, free roam pretty much ignores the campaign. Otherwise they'd have to redo the whole map as a smoldering ruin and you'd have a limited amount of time to explore before succumbing to radiation.

Regarding nukes: it's my understanding that Joseph did not set off the nuclear weapons. Joseph simply foresaw a nuclear exchange coming. The countries fired their missiles at each other. You can catch radio messages in the cars that talk about world events going badly.

However, what does that say? A psychotic baby-murdering hippy foresaw the end of the world? Was he right? Did God bless him? Or was he just psychic?

I think Ubisoft missed a golden opportunity with the ending though.

He should have said "Well, all my family is dead, and now I'm stuck down here with you. But it's okay ... because at least I'll still have sex ... and food." Then fade to black.

Because it's so vague, i am leaning towards 'bliss fuelled nightmare' scenario. After all, look at the up coming dlcs....

Nick Rye goes to Mars. If thats not a bliss enduced fantasy, what is?

The film producer experiences a zombie apocalypse? Yeah, bliss time again.

And Redler re lives 'nam.... what other nightmare would you expect from a bliss OD if you were a vet'?

    Drugs are bad m'kayyy?

Nice, I like the bliss trip / premonition / dead Joseph theories.

I'm kind of pissed I didn't choose the 'Walk away' ending. I'm not one of those who can go through all that again, so I YT the good ending and feel that this would have left me far more satisfied.

One more question. I hardly did any exploring after the ending, but does it make any difference to which NPC remain in the game? I assume my colleges in the car wreck at the bunker were dead and will no longer be in the game, but if I chose the peaceful ending would they be afterwards?

Companions are all around. Found a bunch of them partying at a pizza joint in Faith's territory.

I have not gone to the jail to see if any of the deps or sheriff is still alive.

Thanks, Cons72. I think that will be my first port of call tonight, as I liked those characters.
