    Aircraft insta-death is plane stupid

Can something be done about this? The situation is that you take a plane our for a spin and have a gun for hire manning the gun for defence. They usually do their job pretty well. Unfortunately, the other planes sometimes decide that a kamikaze is in order and, as far as I can tell, there is nothing that is going to stop that collision from killing you instantly.

To make matters worse, the game then continues and respawns you back in the plane only now you don't have your gunner so you're put in a position where you can't defend yourself from the enemy plane that respawned along with you.

I realise that it's realistic for a collision of this nature to result in death but your game is not shooting for realism and the way that you instantly die because of some idiot AI pilot isn't fun but instead is just frustrating.

Yeah it would be nice if your GFH respawned with you in your vehicle.

I think it's wrong that you lose your GFH, but not dying in a head-on collision with two planes would be a little silly.

Even if it didn't result in death and they allowed you to bail out, you're still going to lose your plane and GFH anyway.

...but not dying in a head-on collision with two planes would be a little silly.
How so? I got in to the plane after it materialised in front of me seconds after I "ordered" it. In a game where I can command a bear and a mountain lion to do my bidding. In a game where if either of them get an RPG to the face I merely need to stroke and pat them and they shake it off.

This game is not realistic in the slightest and I am not ripping on it for that.

My issue here is that they've made noise about how they've added planes and expanded the role of aircraft in this series instalment. Yet it is hampered by the fact that you can just randomly die from being impacted by AI. No skill involved. Plus, kamikaze is not a valid strategy for the player (since you die). It is just straight up a flaw and not fun.

Imagine for a second if the same logic were applies to the road vehicles. The idea that you can have a truck hurtling along and directly impact a sedan and neither party is killed is "a little silly". So is the concept I can get run over by a car and wrap a bandage around my hands and I'm good to go. But it services game play because it would be a huge drag if every time you hit another car or one hit you, you died or nearly died for the sake of "realism". That is exactly what is happening with planes and choppers as things are now. Do you appreciate that it is inconsistent and not a good game mechanic?

But it’s a representation of real life. Using your logic, why stop there? We should be able to fly like superman, walk on water, punch enemies over mountains.

Im not being sarcastic, but a line has to be drawn somewhere.

But why of all places draw the line there given what I've said? It makes no sense and Luke I've stated, it is not fun and puts me off using the aircraft at all.

I’m puzzled as to why you get so much aggro in the sky. I’ve liberated Faith and John’s region and almost Jacob’s. I fly the planes a lot and very rarely encounter any hostility up there, even over the region that still controlled by the cult.

I prefer it like that. The main reason I fly is to escape the chaos.

I wouldn't say that I get loads of aggro in the sky necessarily. It is kind of beside the point being that the frequency of encounters isn't my gripe, it's that you can so easily get killed so soon after one of these enemy planes spawns. That it is infrequent doesn't excuse it or make it a non issue since a fix of some kind could potentially alleviate the problem entirely.

As you say, it is rarely hostile when up high. But it speaks volumes that I've gotten frustrated over this when I consider how little time I've spent in the sky. The view you get is quite restrictive unless you're proactively looking around and it seems to me that lone enemy planes will simply spawn out of nowhere at an angle outside your view cone. That in itself is problematic because it means there is no way of avoiding being detected by the hostile craft unless you spot it first and go out your way to avoid; which you can't do if the thing appears from thin air behind you.

I've been playing games for a long time and I'm not going to lie and tell you that I'm an amazing pro player. But if there's one thing I can't stand it's losing / dying due to poor or ill conceived design of a game mechanic. That's what I feel this is. If I was dying up there because I just stink at the game then I'd be fine about that. But I'm literally talking about trying to avoid something that I can't see, appears from nowhere and can just fly into me and immediately kill me.
