I apologize for double posting in two areas...here and tech support: https://forums.ubi.com/showthread.ph...R-Memory-Limit
I have created my first map on any game I've ever played because FC5 looked so advanced. So, please excuse me if this is a dumb question. I just could not find an answer online after quite a bit of researching.
My issue is when trying to add one more AI enemy causes the following message. I am not sure if this is a XB1 or FC5 issue and what I need to do.
- ERROR - The memory limit has reached its limit.
XBOX One
OS Version 10.0.1733.2020
Internal Storage 175.4 GB of 364.9 GB
External Storage 1.6 TB of 2.7 GB
I have:
- 10 enemies
- 7 alarms
- lots of trees
- 7 animals
- just enough four wheelers and trucks to make the bar at the top red 100% (no water or air vehicles)
- small amounts of water (like short streams)
- 7 wrecked houses each with maybe 8 fire objects each
- junk yard which is not very big at all with some wrecked cars and a few are on fire
- taking up about 3/4 or a little more of the allotted plane space.
- large hollow rocks surrounding the area to make a valley
- 8 small to medium sized single story plain houses and tents
- maybe 15 or so random detailed items
- about 10 barrels with fire
I've seen other user created maps which"look like" they have a lot more detail than mine...and with so many objects I can choose from and the plane space it's a shame I cannot go further.
I have looked online, called GameStop, asked my son and friends...no one has heard of this. I cannot find anything on object, etc. limitations except requirements if using a PC. And with the other tons of objects, etc. coming to the Arcade map editor, it is a shame if I cannot build further than this fairly small map. Maybe I just have too much on there...that would suck if it is a limitation of the console. I put a lot of work into this map and created a lot myself without default objects.
I might be able to do a quick vid and post on my YouTube acct if my desc above is not helpful.
Thanks for the game and your help/suggestions!

Hello,
If you put too much AI, or ie : objects with physics in one place, (square), you will go over memory budget. There are several memory limitations, objects, textures, AI wave...
You can go in the editor UI options and select the grid bugdet, which will show grid squares all over your map.
With this you'll be able to see if you reach the limit in one of those squares, but keep in mind that you may have exceed the memory budget for something else, the overall memory budget.
So, try to select carefully your items and see how the memory budget will increase, with this monitoring you'll be able to optimize your map better.
I've seen fairly detailed maps with one hundred enemies, all you have to do is to put space between assets which are memory consuming.
Sounds like you've reached your AI limit for the particular grid you are attempting to fill. One thing you learn after using the editor extensively is to plan out where the bulk of your memory is going to be and build in the center of 4 grids, as opposed to the center of one. This will give you, seemingly, 4 times the memory to use.
Here are a couple shots to showcase just how much more you can add if you plan for location.

Keep in mind, however, there are global limits as well. In the second shot, I have reached my Wave 1 global AI limit. So any additional AI will need to arrive for wave 2.

...that's one thing I was doing. A few spots had a bit much...well, could be. I'll have to rebuild this big a$$ time consuming map and check things as I go along. it might be out of memory, but all validation is green.. And great input for the editor options. I totally did not read all of that in the beginning. Thank ya'll!!!
Also note that, at the top of the screen, there is a budget bar that shows how full the budget is for different things (Textures, AIs, Vehicles, FX etc).
Of course, if your issue is that you have too many objects in one grid, then you would still get the error even if the budget bar doesn't show as full for any category.
@cskiller86 - Yeah, I now noticed I maxed out my vehicles. I am rebuilding my map and watch how things make the budget limit grow. Just still don't get it on this map...wish I would have kept tabs on it as I was building.
Now, if there is a way to do a Save As like on a PC, I could make a copy and start taking things down and make notes on what's-what. However, the Save As just overwrites the file...unless I'm doing something wrong.
You don’t need to figure out what is causing the budget error, it’s AI. You said in the original post it gives you error when placing AI. Just delete some AI in grids that are at max (10 per grid, per wave). As for vehicles, you get 8 total (don’t remember grid limit, but I think it’s 6?)Originally Posted by SadisticTrust Go to original post
The 10 AI limit is for NPCs btw, animals are much more liberal
Makes sense...they were all ganged up on one another. I have taken everyone's advice and began a new map...put a lot of work into it. I do not expect an award...just want to let all have fun like I have been. If it's not, then I'll roll with the criticisms and make another.Originally Posted by AnEastonfection Go to original post
It's a night time map, but I think it might be too dark...having to trial and error with the atmosphere settings. I'm about done...will post after a few more walk through's and a few more times playing. My son tried what I have so far, and he likes it...but, he could be bias.
I don't really understand this.Originally Posted by SadisticTrust Go to original post
If you go to Manage Map - Save As and give it another name (e.g. add V2 at the end), then it will "copy" the map as a new one while also keeping the original map.
If you'd then exit the Editor and enter it again and go to Edit Map, you should see your original one and the V2 one.
That's what I thought as well...makes total sense...same thing as what PC's do is what I meant. However, when I tried it it overwrote the map. There was only one map left to edit. I'll try again later...I could have imagined the whole thing. I finished my first map and publishing it in a few mini...Originally Posted by cskiller86 Go to original post
