    Gear Score and Loot

How is gear score determined, I know for most part its based on your level / GS / overall gear you are wearing.

But me and a friend was wondering if I go to say world T1, would I still see 256+ drops like I normally do just with easier enemies to face.

I had told him I wasn't sure but know I've had 277 and 270 GS items dropping for me while I was in the group with him in T2 and T4, so that led me to think the drops are based on your personal GS more than the actual world tier setting you set via the map.

    Anyone know for sure?

Gear score is determined by how close to max stats the gear piece is. Averaging or whatever all the pieces you are wearing give you a final gear score that you see. DZ bracket placement is everything in your inventory and stash.

As far as world tier I high GS pieces still drop in T1 but not as much as T5. You will get better gear in the higher tiers and a high chance of them. I haven't played in the lower tier in a long time so I can't be 100% sure on that.

    What he said.

I personally don't see the point about obsessing about Gear Score. As long as an item is 256+, it can be optimized to its max. More important than 'Gear Score' value on any item is the particular talents it has, and how they match up with what one wishes for that particular bit of equipment.

It just takes more D-Tech to optimize.

As for what my character has for GS, that holds little meaning in the end. It doesn't take into account the Talents on gear and weapons, nor does it take into account the fact that the reason one might have a lower gear score is because they're voluntarily running a 204 assault rifle to unlock specific Talents to help with their skills. That kind of thing.

The way I understand it is, gear will never drop at a higher GS than the recommended level that corresponds to that particular World Tier. So no, you can't cheese it and equip your best 256+ gear and drop down to WT1 to have an easier time farming for a killer House. If one dropped, it would be a 163, not a 256.

Gear drops WILL, however, scale DOWN based on what gear you have equipped. You can test this by taking your level 30 character who is in WT5, and crafting for example, a full set of green level 4 gear, and equipping it so that you effectively zero out your gear score. Go to the scavenging box in the BoO (the one that gives you free gear every few hours). Assuming you get something that isn't a mod and actually has a gear score, the gear you get will be equivalent to what you'd get in WT1, in the 163 range.
