    Arcade Map Editor ERROR Memory Limit

    I have created my first map on any game I've ever played because FC5 looked so advanced. So, please excuse me if this is a dumb question. I just could not find an answer online after quite a bit of researching.

    My issue is when trying to add one more AI enemy causes the following message:

    • ERROR - The memory limit has reached its limit.


    XBOX One
    OS Version 10.0.1733.2020
    Internal Storage 175.4 GB of 364.9 GB
    External Storage 1.6 TB of 2.7 GB

    I have:
    • 10 enemies
    • 7 alarms
    • lots of trees
    • 7 animals
    • just enough four wheelers and trucks to make the bar at the top red 100% (no water or air vehicles)
    • small amounts of water (like short streams)
    • 7 wrecked houses each with maybe 8 fire objects each
    • junk yard which is not very big at all with some wrecked cars and a few are on fire
    • taking up about 3/4 or a little more of the allotted plane space.
    • large hollow rocks surrounding the area to make a valley
    • 8 small to medium sized single story plain houses and tents
    • maybe 15 or so random detailed items
    • about 10 barrels with fire


    I've seen other user created maps which"look like" they have a lot more detail than mine...and with so many objects I can choose from and the plane space it's a shame I cannot go further.

    I have looked online, called GameStop, asked my son and friends...no one has heard of this. I cannot find anything on object, etc. limitations except requirements if using a PC. And with the other tons of objects, etc. coming to the Arcade map editor, it is a shame if I cannot build further than this fairly small map.

    Ah, you should probably refine your search query and read up on "editor budget" instead of "memory limit".

    All assets have a specific memory requirement, use too many different ones and the memory budget is maxed out. I'll probably add information on budget/memory impact for each object to my list at http://list.farcry.info

    In the meantime, try steering clear of already-furnished buildings. They group several objects together, and thus are the most expensive "single" object you can place.

    Hey...no. When I try add an AI cultist only the following shows:

    ERROR
    The memory limit has reached its limit.
    OK inside a circle

    From another post, someone replied I might have too much in a confined spot and to turn on the budget option. I can understand the budget option, but not sure about the spacing. It seems if that was an issue, there'd be some sort of notice within the online instructions. Those only really tell how to get started. Too bad you cannot NetOp into my console so I can show you.

    Any additional thoughts/suggestions are highly appreciated.

    BTW...all validation is green...too bad about this map. It's really cool...suppose I'll have to rebuild this big a-- map and check things as I go along. Hate having to keep up with that instead of just building. Oh, one suggestion...some sort of searchable list of objects with advance text search and resulting in the size of each object with warning notes on what not to do with them...I'm sure there are other helpful things it can have...that'd be helpful.

    I'm just tired from programming web apps all day every day and just want to chill with creativity. There's no more creativity in web items these days...all in depth coding...ugh.

    I do appreciate your time and responding...and me venting.

    I'd like to know what I did wrong. I watched some vids and some of the maps being made are spectacular...and so much details...mine is no where near those. Anyway.

    Sorry we might not be able to check out your map

    Can you delete some of the animals and objects then try to add the cultist? I'd also check to make sure nothing is out of the boundary zone on the edge of the map if you build a new one. I definitely recommend to turn on the budget option as you'll be able to see what items cause a lot of your total allowance for the map as some things may seem small but take up more memory such as AI.

    Hopefully you manage to work out what might have happened with your next map so it doesn't occur again.

    Ironically, I was mentioning such a list in my very first reply post to this thread. But somehow the forum software seems to ban me at some times, leaving only me to see that post.

    So let's hope it works when I don't make the address clickable : h++p:// list.farcry.info

    I'll look into adding budget cost there too.

    Also, a workaround for when you reach the budget grid limit: place a Control Zone where you want to place more AI, place that AI in a different Budget grid and link them to the Control Zone. At the start of the map, they'll still walk over to that grid sector.

    @Ubi-Bandicoot - I understand. I'm making another map and take notes on things.

    I would really like to save an original copy of this map using the Save As similar to a PC, but it wants to overwrite instead of making a separate copy which I can take apart.

    Am I missing something?

    I really appreciate you all taking the time to provide feedback.

    Hey...I really like that .info site. It has been really helpful in getting me used to where things are located plus the various options it pulls up.

    Yeah, I can vision this thing blossoming even more. Great job on it!
