It's just sad that so much has been taken out from these games and continues to be. IMO, FC4 was when the FC franchise started getting long in the tooth for me but FC5 just felt downright shallow.Originally Posted by rioseven Go to original post
Watching that video it's a good expression as to why I feel that way and a great representation of what many of us are talking about when comparing later iterations. .....mind you, we're talking about titles within the same franchise and not completely different games here.
Personally, I would expect that sequels would improve on those components that make their game interesting or unique and discard or revamp those attributes that don't. Unfortunately, it seems they continued to dumb down the series and actually get rid of nearly all of those elements / details. Hell, I would even be willing to put up with thing like the weapon degradation mechanic (which I didn't care for in FC2) just so we could have all of those other components back in a new FC game.
Can you imagine just how good FC5 would have been with that level of detail in the physics, animations, the damage modeling, etc.? With the flaws that FC2 had, it also had elements that made it fun and interesting as well.
No...
Not a single typo in my post
You seem a little confused so let me help you out.
Hope that helps.Retrograde
adjective
1.
directed or moving backwards.
"a retrograde flow"
synonyms: backward, backwards, reverse, rearward, directed backwards, retreating, retrogressive
"the retrograde motion of the planets"
2.
reverting to an earlier and inferior condition.
"to go back on the progress that has been made would be a retrograde step"
@Kean_1 wow, I had actually managed to forget about the weapons degradation until now.
The lack of growth in Physics application in games is something I commented on the other day, not just for this franchise but the genre.
For me it peaked with Crysis in 2007 and has been downhill or at best plateaued since.
Ironically, there was very little physics in the original FC, but what there was done beautifully, the amount of times I whacked that fish that was hanging from a line just to see it swing...
Not to mention the German version having its Rag Doll effect disabled due to being too realistic and the Video Games train mass murderers arguement....
I know and its very sad.
Unfortunately some guys on here havn't even played FC2 but they are quick to assume it cannot have been a better game because it was made in 2008.
Looking at the video, I was reminded of so many things that have been lost from Far Cry. And thats just the physics, don;t get me started on the MP.
Well I guess small things like that matter more to some than others. I also don't like that those effects have been massively downgraded but i prefer detailed environments over nice looking explosions a swaying grass and ****. Ah well each to there own. On a side note.
I havnt felt this say sinse Afghanistan.
Yea I know what the word means, I'm educated you know so stop insulting me.Originally Posted by CuZtds_Lst_Stnd Go to original post
You spelt it wrong because you used the wrong word. Would you like a dictionary to help you understand what I mean?
If that's directed at me, I'll tell you now I've played them all (although I only played FC4 for about 3 hours before taking it back because of all the interactive prompts thrown in my face all the time) and I STILL think FC5 is the better game.Originally Posted by rioseven Go to original post
It not just those specific physics. They all contributed to an immesive experience. There was player agency. There was atmosphere. There were sunsets - you don't get sunsets in FC5. Just a hell of alot of small things all add up to a whole point which is why FC2 was a more immersive experience and that's what a lot of people are wanting - especially since its Far Cry. They want an evolution in immersiveness which sadly has been nurfed.Originally Posted by leroy198532 Go to original post
Less ? Wtf are you talking about lol , the games filled to the brim with interesting things to do, far cry 2 had an EMPTY MAP, so it's easier to have fancy explosions when there's not alot else. Put an empty map and you can go all out on fancy explosions and physics.Originally Posted by rioseven Go to original post
It's like we're all playing different games. I love we can have followers following us around in planes and helis and you can grapple up to them if you want. NPC's parachute out before crashing. Loads of great detail in this game man.
What does this even mean?Originally Posted by rioseven Go to original post
An empty map that was so featureless it might has well have been a desert. It was a nothing world, really, with huts and outposts dotted here and there.Originally Posted by leroy198532 Go to original post
