Wow!... What a game!
First of all, the story...
Initially I thought "What a poorly written piece of trash!"... but then I realised I am not clever enough to appreciate the quality of Dan Hays writing.
What looks like a severe lack of character exploration, forced sequences that are completely disconnected from the game, as Faith, John, Jacob and Joseph have one sided conversations with a mute, are a clever way of telling the player not to care...because the writers don't.
Then the Gameplay itself...
Having come from playing the previous games in the series, I was shocked to see so many features and weapons removed... but then again I realised...
The Developers need a way to make more money of the player as a game of this quality is severely underpriced.
It makes more sense from a companies perspective to hide these things behind a paywall... want the Vector?...better get a Live or Ps plus sub to get it.
Also I am thankful that they gave us the option to buy reskins of the small amount of weapons and vehicles they gave us, through microtransactions (silver bars)
Saves me having to spend time playing the game to get it. (Although the resistance meter makes the game end in next to no time)
And speaking of not having to play the game... it was so nice of the Devs to cater to those that can't play games...
Can't take an outpost?...the game will do it for you.
Can't complete a mission?...Don't worry, most will auto complete.
They were even thoughtful enough to remove knife, grenade and vehicle takedowns and dragging enemies to make sure we weren't overwhelmed with creative ways to approach combat.
Now I know some people aren't happy with the games AI and janky animations...but we need to remember they only had between 80 to 130 million to make the game...
Finally... yes I have had a few bugs (the time of day is froze, enemies see me easier at 1000 yards than 1 foot in front of them, etc)... but they can patch these things. And patches fix everything.
... it's 2018, it's unreasonable to expect a finished product at launch.
All in all... well done Ubisoft.
You can be proud of this one... glad to see you learned from the mistakes of AC Unity.
