Does the Awesome Map Editor outweigh the terrible MP?

So on procuring this game for free via a Far Cry 4 Map Jam viz Player's Choice category winner, I was very happy to eventually have the Gold Edition about a week after launch.

I find the campaign great, a bit buggy, but great. The world is very good and well crafted by the boys n girls at Ubi, I like the missions and I actually like the ending contrary to popular opinion.

Many things no longer exist in Far Cry games. You can find these easily doing a YouTube search for Far Cry 5 vs Far Cry 2 and you will see a countless number of mechanics and wonderful things dropped over recent years. After all of that, I still really enjoy playing Far Cry 5, its still one of the best campaigns of all time for me personally.

So we end up with this fantastic map editor - many many things that have been suggested over the years are right there. So many improvements from people posting in these forums, ideas that have been implemented from the suggestions of just a handful of people who are obviously hardcore Far Cry fans. And well done to Ubisoft for all of the invitations to events, all expenses paid, its very much appreciated by everyone for sure.

Now to the MultiPlayer - or what we have as Game Modes, Team DeathMatch and DeathMatch.

The basis of every good MP is TDM and DM. That's the grass routes of every game going back in time ad finitum. Perfect. And maybe we will get CTF and maybe another well-known MP mode together with upcoming DLC.

So far, everything is looking awesome. Ubis have done a great job and deserve a pat on the back for their efforts on top of their remuneration. Well done.

But no. Awesome editor - unable to play the maps I make. Terrible servers. Can;t see names. Look at all the forums - everywhere are people complaining about the MP.

    Why?

You made a superb game, everything spot on, and then ruin your own game with such a scrooged out MP where people cannot even host their own maps?

I'm trying, I really am, but can ANYONE see any logic at all to this?
What is the idea behind the Far Cry Arcade?

I get the old school menu screens etc, they're great, I love the music, I get that arcade feeling, I love that there are arcade machines in the campaign so you can jump into Arcade Mode.

What I don;t get is how nobody realised that the experience of making maps, and then sharing them, hosting them, getting feedback on them, getting plays on them and feeling like a game dev just totally got lost and now all we have is post a map up, it gets played by someone (no idea who?) and then the map gets put in the rubbish.

What the hell is going on? The whole reason Far Cry and Far Cry 2 had a map editor in the first place was to allow players to have dev tools and those who were really skilled at it got bragging rights. You cannot do that now. Its been nurfed.

Back to the start - great game, really love it. All of it - except the absolutely ridiculous ethos to omit user created content as being at the forefront of the MP.

Yet again Ubi, yet again, I was right but who the hell listens to me anyway. And going by the story - Jacob was right, nobody listened to him either - if you did listen to him you would still be alive in a bunker somewhere in Montana.

Whilst yes I 100% agree with you, I want the classic lobby system back aswell, I don't feel like that will be the single thing that fixes multiplayer. There are still plenty of gameplay issues.

For example the hit registration can sometimes not work, time to kill with body shots (except shotgun and snipers) are ridiculous, no clearly visible indication for who teammates are, you move faster by sprinting & repeatedly bunny hopping, no progression system, no ADS sensitivity controls at all, and on official Ubi maps which have infinite ammo, the meta is to spam unlinited grenades or spam explosive arrows. For me personally, the no custom loadouts just feels severely limiting also, I would much prefer custom loadouts but map host can ban certain weapons.

If they can ever address the majority of them main issues then the multiplayer will be taken a little more serious and it could actually be skillfully enjoyable
