Operation: Watchman is destroying my Wildlands experience

I triggered this mission very early in the game because I decided to tour the map. I don't even have diversion lures, which I'm beginning to realize are important. So fine, tried 9-10 times, couldn't get it, decided to tackle it later...except every time the clock strikes 21:00, no matter where I am on the map the mission triggers again, and every time the clock chimes 04:00, it tells me I've failed the mission again. Since fast travel and dying on other missions tends to advance the clock, I'm getting the mission trigger and fail messages constantly.

This is insane torture. I'm an average player at best, playing on regular and just looking to enjoy myself. It takes me 10-15 minutes to stealth my way to the point where I have to deal with the awful attack waves of enemies, with no checkpoints I have to start from scratch every time I die or get seen, and now for the rest of this very long game I'm going to be reminded of this stupid mission on an endless loop?

This goes beyond bad game design and is starting to resemble a fatal bug. Please tell me this is a known issue they're working to fix.

Why can't you just unselect the mission on the map screen so that way you are not in any active quest? If I could have the game stay at 9pm in the storming rain lol I would love it.
Try spawning a chopper if you have it unlocked since it sounds like you started fresh new campaign and fly off somewhere and trigger a different mission or intel gathering? It shouldnt do the thing where you ran out of the circumference and failed. I know the campaign had a mission or two like that before that myself was in ajam with but I tough those things out til I beat them. Mission is not that hard just put your difficulty on easy and camp

I did thismission very early aswell. Its a tough one alright. Stick to it though and you will suss it out. Thereis a route into sam that will take in the region of 30 seconds to a minute once you clock the guards locarions. I got in with no lures at all.
once in the fight, prone under the table 🙂 Sounds naff i know but it feals like (to me) the safest place, as it allows you to cover the door and stairs that most enemies like to come through.
The escape being the frustrating part because of no checkpoints. I jumped over the balcony and essentially ran out the back door. And kept running. The ai teammates will look after themselves, even if downed apparently, and sam will be fine too, just leggit.

Try the mission again mate, just leave c4 in any area while sneaking and marked the 3 snipers in the sniper tower before you interact with Sam. When the alarm started, detonate the c4's you planted for distraction and your AI teammates will automatically kill those snipers, then call rebel support for some diversion.

    I hope it helps😉

Which platform are you on? I'm sure you could get some coop help to get through it. If you're on xbox I'm happy to help.

If the OP is a solo player like I am and used to playing on his own perhaps he has his reservations about playing coop, I know I do so maybe what he needs, or thater the help he needs is someone telling him how to TURN OFF the mission , step by step, so he cam finish the game and then comeback to it at his own accord.

    Update from OP

Hello again everybody, OP here. You all deserve an update. I finally beat Operation: Watchman, and wanted to thank everyone who replied for their tips, support, and offers to help out via co-op. You guys have a great community on this board - I more than half expected one reply consisting of "get gud". The stealth was what killed me - it probably took me 100 tries to get through the stealth section consistently, but once I got to the shooting, I had it in 4-5 attempts.

For any future players who find this time capsule, let me pay it forward, one Ghost Recon noob to another. Here is my painstaking step by step guide. There are likely better ways, but this is my way.

Before you begin: find yourself a sniper rifle with high penetration (I used the MSR), and an LMG with the 200-round clip upgrade. Make sure you have the ability to pop at least two diversions by drone. Those are mandatory for what follows. Also helpful, but I'm not sure how necessary: upgraded vehicle damage, upgraded mortar strikes, upgraded AI teammate efficiency, upgraded stealth while crouching or prone. Now to begin.

From where you auto-respawn after mission fail, immediately sprint to the right at full speed. Get around the edge of the chain link fence and crouch. There should be a raised platform with two soldiers on it, both facing away from you. If there's only one soldier, wait a few seconds for the second soldier to mount the platform and turn in the other direction. Approach at a crouch, mount the platform behind them, and head for the closest stairs down. If your timing is right, the way should be clear. If you're a little quick, there may be a guy at the bottom of the stairs, just outside a sniper tower. Wait a second and he'll turn around and head inside the sniper tower.

Go to the bottom of the stairs, turn immediately left, and follow the shipping crates on your right side until they end. There's a tunnel through them half-way. Don't go through that tunnel. When the shipping crates end there's an overhead light. Shoot it with your suppressed pistol, and keep using the pistol for the rest of the stealth section. On your left one of the two guys on the original platform will have moved your way and descended from the platform. If your timing is right he'll continue on his path and you'll be slightly behind him. If you're fast, wait a second for him to clear the area. Turn to your right. There's a chain link fence with an opening for a long walkway to the next outpost. If your timing is right, there should be two men walking away from you onto the pathway. If you're fast, wait a second for them to walk onto the pathway. Follow them at a safe distance, keeping to the foliage cover on your left as necessary. When you're at the opening in the chain link you'll see a big field on your left. Cross that field, heading for the other end of the long, U-shaped walkway those two men were on.

You'll arrive at another opening in the chain link where the walkway terminates. There's an overhead light, and if you're on time, one dude underneath beginning to enter the walkway heading back the way you came. Let him clear the area, then shoot the light. Go through the gate and immediately turn left. There's a generator: break the lock and turn it off. If your timing's right you won't be disturbed. If you are disturbed while breaking the lock/turning it off, turn to your right and move forward into the cover of the armory until the heat's off you, then go back and turn off the generator. Bada-bing, you have your drone again. Hide behind the shipping crate and send your drone up to spot hostiles to your heart's content. It'll pay off later when you'll be able to see the soldiers maneuvering on you. At some point when no soldiers are close, shoot the small electric lamp just outside the armory door.

When you're done that, point the drone from your location behind the armory toward the building where Sam's operating (you'll see the three yellow dots indicating his location on the second floor). You'll see on the near side of the building a staircase to the second floor. There's a soldier leaning on the wall at the bottom of the staircase who never moves. To the left, there's a second soldier standing on the corner of the same platform who also never moves, both facing more or less your way. Once you're sure patrolling soldiers have vacated the path between you and the exterior stairwell across the road from you, have your drone make one noise far behind the guy at the bottom of the staircase so he turns around and moves back along the building to explore it. Have your drone make a second noise on the roadway that runs between you and the second soldier, down to the left of you (to the right of where the soldier is facing), so that he turns his back on the stairwell. At a crouch, move across the road and up the stairs.

You're now on the second floor and can walk directly into the room where Sam Fisher is doing his dirty deeds. Before you do, equip your LMG. I found the combat relatively easy (4-5 tries), so I may not actually be the best source of advice for what comes next, but here's what I did. After Sam finishes his (unskippable!) dialogue with you, enemies will immediately start converging on that room. Do not leave the room. There are three entrances: two doors and a staircase. Wedge yourself in a corner and immediately (i) order your teammates to regroup on you, (ii) call in all the rebel help you can, (iii) call down a mortar strike on top of your position (the building will shield you but blow away many of the enemies immediately outside). Constantly switch between covering the staircase and the two doors so the enemy doesn't get the drop on you. Blow them away with the LMG as they appear. The benefit of the big clip is you won't get caught reloading (with no place to hide and no assistance, reloading is death). If you're conservative, 100 rounds or so will get you through. Sam takes his sweet time, so make sure to call in more rebels and mortar strikes as they refresh.

When Sam is done, don't wildly flee out the door. There are lots of soldiers around but you shouldn't be in danger of being overwhelmed. Take stock for a moment. Ignore Sam entirely from now on: he's unkillable, as far as I can tell, and will follow wherever you go. Reload the LMG. Carefully neutralize a few soldiers, always making use of cover. Revive your team if they're close at hand, so they can respawn you later if need be. Orient yourself so you're facing towards the front of the camp where you initially started (open up the tac map if it helps) so that you run the right way (i.e. in the direction of La Cruz Alpha). When you're ready, leave in that direction at a deliberate pace, picking off soldiers as you go with the LMG and sticking to cover. Panicked flight does more harm than good, because it exposes you to large volumes of enemy fire from well-equipped soldiers, which is the one thing you can't afford, and allows enemies to accumulate. Don't worry about the helicopters for now.

Once you're out of the base and into the surrounding jungle, the 2-3 attack helicopters overhead become more of a concern than the soldiers. Switch to your sniper rifle, make sure it's unsuppressed for max damage. Head in the direction of La Cruz Alpha, sticking to foliage with overhead cover to keep the choppers off you, and staying on the move so they don't get a bead. Keep an eye on the sky, and when you see a helicopter in an exposed position (in range, not moving quickly, not aiming its guns at you), snap off a couple of shots. With an unsuppressed MSR and upgraded vehicle damage, two shots to any helicopter is fatal. They do respawn, but they don't acquire you immediately upon respawn, so killing them regularly keeps the pressure off. As others have said, once you get to the river, everyone stops chasing you, and you're home free.

Thanks again everyone, and good hunting to all Ghosts of Christmas Future. And remember: don't let them see you, don't let them hear you, and don't drop any bodies.

Sorry I missed this post initally. The team is aware that players can get stuck respawning at 21:00 if they don't beat the mission, and it's being investigated.

I'm glad to hear you managed to beat the mission!
