Uh, the squad A.I. is VERY inconsistent. If you are a very low level, they will die off before they even enter the building. Let’s not even forget the fact that they could cause your mission failure while You’re TALKING TO SAM.Originally Posted by Paladinrja Go to original post
Nah, works fine for me. You're not suppose to expect complexity of them (that means don't ask them to do stupid things). Many times I even find myself reacting to them when they're in trouble or to help them finish maneuvers.Originally Posted by Lunatic LK47 Go to original post
Was a lot worse when the game first started. They couldn't barely maneuver. Now they quite easily get from point A to B. If the OpFor maneuvers to their route, yah, one might go down. Pretty unlucky when that happens. Especially UNIDAD that act like virii attacking an open wound.
While you're talking to Sam is the best time to call them in. Everything's more or less on hold.
What I do is have them hold in cover along the fenceline. Infil the building. Tag the three sniper posts. Talk to Sam while they are locking in. Soon as he's done briefing: Activate the sync shot and immediately call them to my position. That let's me approach the balcony, call in a diversion (at the entryway), indirect fire around the turret (I already baited with C4 for extra AoE), and call in reinforcements. Have the guys hold the second floor with me (inside with Sam), which takes care of the three entry ways; while I focus on the choppers.
Every time they wander off. Recall and rehold position. It's a high level Op. No matter how you turn it. -- I mean, there's a whole platoon in there! -- If you're attempting it as soon as you start a game; as good as you are, you're new, in country and barely setup. At least clear Itacua.
I get what you are saying, but from what someone says you still get the phone call at 21:00 hours even if the mission isn't selected. It also means you don't get the Spas 12 until you almost complete infiltrating the base.Originally Posted by Paladinrja Go to original post
I also accept that the game scales as you level, but I think this mission is way too difficult for new players that are just levelling up. It needs to be optional, perhaps talk to Bowman at a starting location for example.
The call is just a reminder the mission is there. Sam isn't even at the base until just before you arrive; and have been absent from the area outside 2Km from the base before you approach it. Due to the fact it's a specific time slot, if perhaps why you get the call everyday at 21:00.Originally Posted by Edgemoor Go to original post
It scales up to lvl50. T1 I wouldn't call "scaling" more like trading places. All the ancillary effects of your skills go to enemies and you basically undo all your progression, progressively. All enemies do everything faster, they don't suffer any foils or foibles (or at least it happens so fast you'd never notice), they can shoot through the edge of a keyhole. Anything center mass they'll soak at least two rounds, even from some very nasty guns. -- In short, T10-1 becomes a massive camp-fest. They never miss, never have to search unless you are over 200m away, prone and in cover. Have extended range and rate of fire. 4x speed vehicles, that will ram you (basically human missiles) and they'll drop grenades upon death, if they are nearby useable assets (so you can't have them) especially when they contain resources.
A good analogy is driving around a race track in your whizz-bang sports car, and every time you do a better lap; the track morphs and you find your car increasingly becomes unable to respond to your input, so you're constantly running off the track, hitting walls and blowing up. -- If SB call in support, you don't just get SB support groups, you get UNIDAD too, so they get twice the support, which literally spawn just outside the periphery of your mini-map.
So.. learn the game and think diabolically. I don't really care too much, but I can understand why so many people find it stressful.
I call ******** on that. You are NOT able to give orders when talking to Sam, and the problem is, it takes a full two minutes before you are able to go back to gameplay. Attempted this over a hundred times total, and let’s face it, UbiSoft screwed up on quality control, period.Originally Posted by Paladinrja Go to original post
It's a very difficult mission. I'd say the screw up is down to the fact it isn't optional. If they made it so you had to talk to Bowman, or someone else it would be fine.Originally Posted by Lunatic LK47 Go to original post
Actually, the difficulty is ARTIFICIALLY HARD because of the bad quality assurance. There is no way around it. I am left with the impression that very little thought was put into designing this mission.Originally Posted by Edgemoor Go to original post
We are talking at cross purposes here I think. I'm not debating the in's and out's of the mission itself, or it';s validity or integrity.Originally Posted by Paladinrja Go to original post
This thread isn't about the nitty gritty of what to do or not. It's about the fact it is one of, if not the, toughest mission in the game and you are reeled in very strongly to do the mission there and then. You get in game reminders every single time at 21:00 hours, which is in itself annoying and frustrating. If you go after the Spas 12 shot gun you won't get the choice.
The point is simply; it should be optional, and you should have to start it manully. Ideally talking to someone like Bowman.
