Richard O'Kane was the skipper of the USS Tang (SS-306). He is one of the top skippers of the war and a medal of honor recipient. He was also "Mush" Morton's XO on the Wahoo, before given command of Tang. On Tang's 5th patrol, she was hit and sunk when one of her own torpedoes made a circular run.
