Hi fellow map makers
I recently completed two maps, they seem to have been fairly well received but they haven't had many plays. It's very hard to attempt to balance how the maps play by just second guessing what people enjoy or comparing with popular maps etc. So, it would be a massive help to me if I could possibly please get some feedback from you guys regarding what you liked/hated about my maps. The maps are (there are previous prototype versions up that need deleting, ignore pease)
Breakout a journey map
Capture Camp Bravo an outpost

I played the capture camp bravo one, I gotta say I like the pathway through the cave and the watertunnel.
After that the map become quite.. dull? Theres little to no cover provided other than the plants, which works for the most part but maybe you should add more cover with objects thus creating pathways the player can follow.
Also try to open up the fence at more points, other than 1 gate in the front. The only way I could get into the fort was by waiting for an alerted guard to break the fence with a quad. Otherwise I would've had to run around the whole base.
Other than that the map was quite fun, a bit more detailing would be nice, but that's just my opinion
Ah, I need to make the holes in the fence more apparent. The trouble with that chainlink is the "hole" sections don't stand out very well. There are actually three fence holes one on the front right corner behind the mobile office, one at the front left below the guard tower and one down the left hand side near the stack of pipes. In total there are six different ways into the compound, front gate, three fence holes, down the zipline and you can use the broken column at the rear to jump the fenceA real design problem to make the various points of entry clearer without being too obvious. Thanks for the feedback so far, very useful.
You will need to hang shoes on all your future maps, that way everyone will know you can jump over there.
It could become like your trademark. cliff (the shoe hanger) easton.
I like the look of your map - each and every building you put down needs around 100 objects in and around it. That could be crates, tires, decals, fences, walls, posters, furniture, extensions, rocks, barrels etc the list goes on and on - there are 10k objects in the editor.
Roads and paths you could try going into terrain tools, raise/lower terrain and set it to 0.1 then lower the middle of the tracks or paths by 0.1. Maybe raise small areas of open terrain. Have lots of paths and tracks, they show routes.
Add trash, add dirt, add grit, add wreckages and if the map doesn;t look good in the light don't make it dark to hide anything. Looks good so far, I like the layout, just needs to feel like people actually live and work there.
Not trying to self-promote - but this is a map in progress I'm making - 4 main buildings. Just 4 main buildings. To illustrate my pojnt about 100 objects for each building.
