So this is actually my first Far Cry experience. I bought 5 because I like the story. There's a few things I wanted to throw out there from an outsiders perspective. Meaning, there's somewhat of a bias folks have who have been playing a multi game series, and sometimes the criticism can be extraordinarily useless. I find this with folks who have played the Battlefield franchise. They're blinded by nostalgia and can't seem to get past it. What's interesting, is the fact that this nostalgia syndrome seems to affect gamer's universally , though, the game they're nostalgic about is always different. For instance, it's usually the first game in the series they played, or enjoyed. So it usually turns out to be a different game for everybody. Some people will tell me "it all went downhill after BF2", some people say 3, some people say 4. The folks who play BF1 first (the latest in the series) go back and play the older games and think they're super clunky and dated feeling. This is interesting because I'm sure developers are aware of this, and have to constantly make calls that annoy gamer's, but are ultimately for their own good.
I liked the story. I don't need to be coddled with a Hollywood movie experience in my game. Some gamer's do, I'm not one of them.
The graphics are pretty bad lol, but appreciate the performance stability. I will say , the clarity is good though. Even BF1 looks blurry compared to this game. I just really hoped for some better lighting or something. I don't know, it just seems very generic. GTAV looks better and that game is several years older.
My biggest complaint so far is the menus and navigation tools. I don't know why the game's progression is so abstract feeling. I shouldn't have to keep searching for the next thing to do, all while not knowing if I'm doing it in the right order (if there even is one). Maybe people who have been playing the franchise know how to navigate around the game, however, I'm telling you it's sloppy. I don't mind complexity or lots of tools, as long as it's straightforward. Or at least be clear about what isn't important if you're not going to tell us what is.
