FC3 was the last Far Cry game I played. I refuse to preorder anything any more. Ubisoft is so bad at post launch support that I end up just waiting to see IF they actually fix anything before I even consider buying the game.
They've adopted the tactic of releasing unfinished games; I've adopted the tactic of not buying them until they are finished.
Again, FC3 was the last one I even played, and that's when I realized they had tricked me.
Listen guys.. Firstly, I agree. The game ABSOLUTELY needs a custom server browser ala Halo 5. 1000000% agreed.
But to pretend that the small minority of us here on this board is a "Large group", and to pretend that we should exclusively be catered to, is... A bit patronizing.
And if you know me, NOBODY has been more critical of Ubisoft on this board, especially during Far Cry 4. The deserved every bit of anger they got then.
But as somebody who has spent a total of over 50 hours in the editor, and has had a map do better than any map I made on Far Cry 2, in a fraction of the time- This system is working.
Again- I support you! I really do. A custom server list, ON TOP OF the voting lobbies, would be perfect. But lets not pretend that we here are the only ones that are "the mapping community". When the rest of the world moves on to other games, and we're still here making quality maps. That time is already happening.
Ubisoft has to give ALL map makers a fair opportunity to get their maps out there. Even the garbo maps. But the greatness floats to the top, clearly. It's a good system. You just have to let it work. And I see an awful lot of people operating on assumption here, and not the facts. Or, your map wasn't that great, and it didn't get a lot of attention.
Just keepin it real.
Also, I'd like to have Ubisoft in here giving us more updates on what they're looking to implement. The silence from them is uncomfortable.
-Custom lobby list
-More modes, especially objective modes. Why no OBJ modes?
-More options to control game modes (like not allowing one team to pick up weapons)
-RESPAWNING VEHICLES (seriously, who thought this was a good idea to let this pass)
Let's hear more about that.
"Patronizing" are you joking. you just dont understand us long time hardcore builders, you just dont get it. we are not the part timers. how many maps did you make in fc3 and fc4? did you stay through the hard times?Originally Posted by legacyzero Go to original post
Who cares? Yes, it's patronizing. I dont mean that to be insulting. I mean it as the truth. Yes I made maps for FC3, though not many because the lobbies were terrible. NO I didn't make maps for FC4. I boycotted it, remember? I'm a PVP mapper. I dont see the need to spend days making a map for only 1-2 players to experience it at a time, with few tools to create a good SP or co-op experience. It's a waste of time.Originally Posted by AW LOST SOLDIER Go to original post
Yes, I'm a hardcore builder. I was there for FC:IP and FC2

I know what lobbies you want. And if that's where you stopped reading my post, then you're being both disingenuous AND patronizing. A good "community" doesn't revolve around about a DOZEN people, which is nearly the exact number of those "hardcore builders" you keep bringing up. Ubisoft aren't interested in tiny communities like us. FC3 and FC4 proved that.
BUT- I'm certainly going to give them credit for giving us a system that works for EVERYONE that puts in effort. It's not perfect, but it's LIGHT YEARS beyond what FC3 and FC4 had. If you're just going to be angry that they aren't paying attention to the few of us, rather than their player base as a whole? Well they just aren't going to do that. Sorry, but it's a fact.
Of course- They LITERALLY just got down inviting a large handful of "hardcore builders" to their studio for feedback, and some of that was clearly used. What are those Ubi VIP mappers doing right now? Making maps. And using the system they were given properly. And if they have feedback, they express that feedback in a non-patronizing way. That's not been happening on this board.
I think the problem was that Ubi didn’t have enough diverse players when they tested their lobbying system.
They probably had way more map makers instead of regular folks..
The “map picking” is a way for people to select their own maps and to played .. but I think Ubi didn’t anticipate the other voters to out vote custom maps.. meaning that when they playtested, the voters were nice enough to vote for custom maps probably BECAUSE they were map creators as well. So Ubi thought the system played fairly to others .
The playlist is pointless when you can be outvoted by your maps. What happens when you are in a lobby of 12 and everyone is voting for their map? People will still be frustrated.
The lobby system is fine. It’s the WAY the maps are presented is what can be problems for map makers.
I think Ubi can absolutely fix this:
1. Increase map vote points for user created maps
2. Highlight the map to increase awareness that someone in lobby has their map in play
3. If a map picker doesn’t pick a map leave it blank or duplicate of the last map played
As I post this.. I played 5 matches, got to be map picker, but got outvoted by “Beach Brawl”.
I want to agree that map makers are smaller group than
Well i will be here still making maps for fc5 1,2,3 years from now, but i very much doubt you will, i give you 3 months before you leave the scene. you dont really represent the map making community. you are one of those guys who drops by every couple of years talks the talk and just fades away. you are not in any postition to judge us. we are the guys who kept making fc2,fc3 maps years after you and ubi abandoned those games. we are the guys who keep the community alive for years after guys like you have long gone. that's reality.Originally Posted by legacyzero Go to original post
