i am asking because i decided to zoom all the way out on the map to read the description of each area and noticed something
When you hover over Johns region it reads
"Holland Valley is free. John seed is dead but a few cultist remain in the Valley."
When you hover over Jaobs region it reads
"The Whitetail Mountains have been liberated! Jacob seed is dead but some cultist remain in the area"
When you hover over Faiths region it reads
"The Henbane River has been liberated! Faith Seed is dead. The Bliss is gone but a few cultist remain in the area."
Now here's the interesting part when i hover over Josephs region it reads
"You have defeated the Father and have liberated all of hope county"
That sentence does not seem to add up with the ending because the Father definitely did not seem defeated and unless they meant liberated from life by a nuke that does not seem to make sense to me either. The only thing i can think is maybe there was originally a different ending that seemed too "happy" for a Far Cry ending maybe?
Am i just being crazy or missing something?
#MILD ENDING SPOILERS#
Intriguing.
It does makes you wonder if there ever was an intention to have an alternate ending, where you actually "defeat the Father". In pure Far Cry fashion, I expected an ending where "you" (your character) take over Joseph, and assume the role of The Father yourself. Chan chan chaaaan! Hélas! It was not to be. lol
Anyway, it feels like the story is a bit of a parody, and mostly instrumental to moving the gameplay forward. It's disappointing, especially for those who felt really invested in the narrative, that the ending contradicts your previous efforts of saving the county and liberating its people. For me, personally, it just didn't feel particularly subtle, neither a valuable message, or memorable writing.
But after the ending, as the detail you noticed makes clear, none of it matters. Hope County is a sandbox playground, the story is just a pretext for action. So I'll just stick to my own personal canon ending, that the whole finale is a bliss induced hallucinogen fest, and somehow we got to defeat the Father, save all our friends, and spent the rest of our lives hunting and fishing in the woods of Hope County.
That is interesting. I didn't like the ending at all. I watched all the alternate versions on YouTube and didn't like them either. I sat through the credits wondered what the hell just happened. Let's hope we get some kind of response from Ubisoft after some time has gone by because I'd certainly like to know if some ending content go cut out or they changed direction entirely.
My guess is because they just don’t give a ****. That’s what so many game companies are turning into nowadaysOriginally Posted by SaintHedgehog Go to original post
The only cannon ending, from what I see, is the Resist ending. The world is nuked, and one of the DLCs is a zombie themed one. So...nuke zombies are coming.
If you chose the other ending, the game puts you back at the church to fight Joseph again. Just like the "secret" Walk Away ending at the beginning. Walk Away, restarts at the church. Arrest, Walk Away, restarts at the church. Arrest, Resist, lets you continue playing.
If that is the case, worst segue to a DLC I have ever seen.Originally Posted by AkenoKobayashi Go to original post
As for Ubisoft removing, or probably not even completing, the good ending, that would not surprise me: 'Oops, out of time, ah well, no one plays a game for the ending any way, Mass Effect 3 showed that!'![]()
