As for the chronometer, well, I can't understand why people would want to play "full manual" but have a magic button give them the speed of the target. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

The latter answer is silly, they bothered to print it in the manual, it should be in the game. Regardless, the convoy AI is officially a BUG according to a dev.

    VV2 -
no, your point is valid and agreed with, no problem. My only query would be that the list should only be reduced where it's definitely NOT a bug - unfortunately only the devs are able to decide if some of the problem areas are design issues or bugs... they're the people who know if something really is broke.

Wow... that answer about the chronometer is very discouraging. The manual clearly lists at least TWO different aids to targeting -- the chronometer, and an option to use the weapon officer to help out -- that would give the player an intermediate difficulty for targeting.

Right now all we have is dead easy auto-targeting, or hardcore manual. A good simulation offers more than two extremes for this kind of thing, so the player can adjust to taste. And didn't we have a weapon officer option in SH3 that gave a sort of in-between difficulty? I can't remember, it's been a while since I played it.

It sounds to me like they did intend the player to have both chronometer and WO options, but they ran out of time to implement it. And now they're trying to justify it as an intentional design decision. That's pretty lame, if true, and my respect for them just went down (another) notch.

I'm also wondering if whoever actually designed the game has moved on to another project, and any coders still working on it (or waiting to work on it, if a new patch is funded) are in "design limbo", without any clear sense of what the game is supposed to be. It sure sounds like it, with comments like that.
