Right, so I've played FARCRY 5 since the first minute of release, at first glance of its online mode, I couldn't even get a game (now fixed). Now after obviously a lot of tweaking from the developer's, it's in a playable condition (ish).
Now the biggest game ruining issue for me is LAG. Player lag, bullet lag, loading lag... EVERYTHING LAG. I'm using a wired connection on my Xbox one console so it can't be a connectivity issue. Due to this lag, most of the game mechanics in online are actually completely useless. For example...
Sniping in online... I direct shot an enemy, I clearly see the projectile hit my target but then suddenly, my target jumps 40 feet across the map... And then back again. A follow up shot will be the same. Then BOOM... You get headshotted. How can you aim at a moving target if they are jumping across the map in laggy fashion?
Helicopters in online almost 90% of the time CANNOT be shot down with a HOMING RPG... Why? LAG. The enemy in the chopper are rest assured to be able to dodge at least 12 RAT4 rockets, as when attempting to lock on, it just beeps and resets, beeps and resets... Why? The player will LAG across the screen and break the lock on sequence, leading to just firing the round to get directing the rocket directly to the enemy... to see them disappear from your sights (lag) and your rocket disappear from the map or fly into the ground (bug?).
Takedowns. broken due to LAG. Ever been online and got a takedown on an opponent from behind to see your character freeze on the spot to enter the takedown animation, to only do nothing but freeze up for 3-4 seconds only to see your opponent (unaffected by this) to just turn around and shotgun you in the face? Yeah, that's the most annoying.
So basically, LAG issues severely limit the online gameplay. Even down to the physics of bullet travel in game, how can you shoot at target with a projectile which essentially teleporting about? I can see this online experience being exploited by users of LAG Switches and extremely effectively.
I've played every Farcry title to ever exist and I have never had an online experience like this with any other installment. In fact, Farcry Predators online mode (personally for me) was of much better quality and balance than this new Farcry 5 one.
The biggest annoyance over this whole thing though, must be the £70 price tag I payed for the season pass to have a lesser experience than a game from 2 console generations previous.
Please Ubisoft, implement some form of shared connection or connection based matchmaking. Players using a good connection are actually easier targets than laggy players and are essentially being penalised for it. What is easiest to shoot at? A smoothly running person or a teleporting cyborg?
The OP didn't like it, though my Xbox copy runs buttery smooth.
Maybe it's some code for the 'X' because I'm on the base model.
Seems a bit of an extreme reaction to boycott anything Ubisoft makes on the basis of specific issues in one game that will likely get patched (I've seen Xbox X them raised elsewhere), or maybe that's hyperbole done for effect?![]()
Ahhhh, just for added effect more than anything, to emphasise my disgust! I love the game really but these very irritating issues are overriding my positive opinions. I really want to see these issues fixed soon, some way or another. Lag is such a common issue on many games, but never I have experienced this severity in a FARCRY game for sure. Such a shame man.
Oh yes, I absolutely appreciate 'game rage', it's infuriating when issues happen that derail play. Shouldn't happen.Originally Posted by ProjDerelikMC Go to original post
I hope it's resolved very quickly and that Ubisoft try to keep as high a bar as possible with lauch robustness.
