That effectively ended and deleted my first play-through of the game and I began again at the beginning - except this time I happened to read a post here about the FLAWED RP POINTS SYSTEM AND HOW THE GAME AUTO-DELETES story and side missions which caused me to realize I don't have to play UBISOFT's game I can play my own game - avoiding the abductions for the most part, doing only the missions that get me Perk value - like Dinner Time and Nature Provides (which allow one to use Hunter's Instinct more efficiently).

I attack outposts and loot the safes but NEVER LIBERATE THEM, and you can do this over and over again - as they re-spawn when I'm off in another Region doing the same thing.
    .
I recognized the CULT VIPs and kill their cohorts but don't kill them - again avoiding the RP Points build-up

Ya get enough RP points by simply walking around - I don't rescue folks, I kill their tormentors but leave them tied up - again avoiding the RP points - note - some times I deliberately draw off the VIPs away from the hostages, (as they are too plentiful and costly points-wise to kill) - if the hostage escapes or simply waits there who cares, as after that I don't care for I generally zip off in fast travel to another region - again to avoid the un-necessary RP.

I play my game my way just as anyone that takes the time to read here at the forum and understand the mechanics of the game can easily do.

I take long walk into the nether regions of the game - finding "single" Perk mags in places most miss.

I don't care squat for trophies or accolades for doing it UBISFOT's way I just like have fun with it - but then my idea of FUN involves shooting loud-mouth's peggies with the SPA12 loaded with incendiary ammo and laughing while they scream as the flames cook'em. Making peggies come after me over there while I'm over here raiding their goodies and keeping close count on how many are left

Ya, I know, I have a sick sense of humor, but at-least it's fun and I don't have to complain or feel bad for the money I spent on the purchase, it's a game - sometimes ya just have to remember that part

Back in the day there was a forum member that beat the original using only rocks knives and maybe grenades apart from the odd level that forced you to use something else, your post reminded me of him, which puts a whole new spin on the FC2 "Play it your way" strap line.

    Which was followed by
"Oh, we didnt think you would do that....
    or that....
    or that...
...wait, just because it is Far Cry you think you should be able to explore everywhere?!"

They have learned though, while for me none have recaptured the magic of the original, FC3, FC4 each got better and closer to its spirit.
Apart from doing its best to recreate the game Killing FC2 respawning enemies issue, FC5 has done a good job at maintaining that improvement, if missing out on key features already in the Ubi stable - Coop GRW is all I will say. Plus it looks absolutely stunning...
All of which I guess is off topic, so....

    Exactly...
For those who play for fun through immersion, a nontalking lead is always a double-edged sword, the emphasis I guess being to invest your personality in the avatar, rather than have one thrust upon you.

Almost 2k NPCs can vouch for my investment, or they could if they were still breathing.

The Resist ending was magnificent, a piece of cinematic storytelling brilliance....but ultimately sucked the soul out of the game for me.
So much so that I am wondering more as to what Sam Fisher is up to in Bolivia rather than exploring more Arcade or DLC.
The last time I was left so empty by a game was with Bioshock Infinite....

    DOH!
Maybe should have seen this coming.

I think this suggestion could fix the ending and new game + expectations!! !SPOILERS!

]Please consider something like this for the game ending and new game plus that everyone is wanting. Add one ending that resembles the wrap up we got for defeating Faith, John and Jacob-
    Spoiler:  Show
so for instance let the player actually defeat Joseph Seed (kill him) and maybe rescue a few prisoners
. With that new (Positive) ending you can easily (story wise) roll into new game plus. Here is a sample way to do so.
    Spoiler:  Show
Because you would be defeating the head of the cult and with the new ending there was no nuclear bomb or character stuck in a bunker with Joseph there is a way to re enter Montana with the world in-tact and all progress intact.
The Sheriff could say something like, "Good job rook, with your help we have defeated the bulk of the cult. Feel free to stay here with us and help us take down the remaining cultist outposts scattered across the region." At this point the player would go back into their game with any remaining side missions and outpost left to liberate and have the option of resetting outposts as is already in the game- then an option could come up like it is in Dark Souls 3 to start new game then or at any time later. A person could finish outposts, reset outposts until they are ready to hit new game plus in which case you would simply start the game anew with your achievements, weapons, etc intact- More perks, hardy enemies, extra challenges and the like would be welcome here.
    Spoiler:  Show
Over all I am saying that the optional ending wold keep Montana intact as far as looking beautiful (not having the nuke) it would also make the player feel good that all of the work: rescues, liberations, roster additions, weapons, achievements meant something and allows them to then free roam in a still thriving and liberated (or not) game state!

I just finished the game tonight and I have to say that this ranks up there with some of the worst endings in a title that I have ever played. ....in one sense it made all of you accomplishments feel completely irrelevant. .....and after conquering all three provinces and gaining the upper hand, how did this guy suddenly capture all of your friends (converting most)? Why would your character be going in alone to confront him?

Personally, it feels like the ending was forced like a square peg in a round hole and makes little sense in regard to the progression your character had made up to that point. On top of the shallow weapon selection, odd weapon stats (in comparison to each other), AI quirks and forced capture sequences (just to name a few), this game has turned out to be a much bigger disappointment to me than I had originally anticipated.

It would have been a surprise had Ubisoft not decided on the endings that are being experienced.

I would use a stronger term, but it's a 'family friendly' forum...

Give up hope all those who enter the final mission...
I, like a lot of others, completely agree with you. I spent a lot of hours in FC5 and then to be let down like that in the end. Shame on Ubi.

If only Ubi would do this, it would be great. Nice job with the alternate ending suggestion.

DUPE, again........, seems the same guys that designed FC5 had a hand in the operation of this forum - which is the glitch'est bugged up forum I ever been on.

This. Totally removes any agency you the player think you might have. Other Far Cry games have had endings that have been a bit 'nobody really wins' but this utter twaddle takes it to a whole new and shiny level. If I could refund the entire damned game I would gladly do so, despite how nice the open world is.
