Dunno if that constitutes a plot twist but it certainly makes for a more immersive, engaging and ultimately (for me) fun experience, when you have the HUD off. I play on regular difficulty with the HUD off (Just crosshair and ammo count is up) and the game really demands your attention.
I actually listen to my AI crew - their spotting cues and chatter is critical when the HUD is off. They keep an eye out for Helis, UNIDAD patrols, enemy camps etc. and heavily rely on them. This makes them actually useful when romping around the Wildlands....you feel like a tight knit 4 man commando team.
Beyond getting a warning about re-enforcements or helis their comments are absolutely useless. ARMA squad AI gave you direction based on compas and distance in meters. Wildland's squad AI is utterly pointless without HUD as they give you completely senseless information like "there is a sicario next to the dump/food container/..." most of the times there are dozens of those within 300m AND often enough those comments are based on enemies within builds so that you can't even see what they are talking about.Originally Posted by shobhit7777777 Go to original post
To sum it up - AI squad is useless and a big reason the game relies completely on the HUD to give players information (which I keep turned off).
They're disabled permanently on hard and above.Originally Posted by GiveMeTactical Go to original post
Don't mind him, he speculates about modes he's never played on like he knows them, including Tier One.Originally Posted by Ghost416 Go to original post
I can agree that their enemy spotting cue is pointless due to a lack of specificity...but Arma's callouts weren't any better...they were robotic and MilSim oriented, that is to say that it could take players a while to figure out wtf they were talking about.Originally Posted by biomag83 Go to original post
They do augment a HUD less experience well enough...from letting you know when a UNIDAD vehicle or heli is on it's way to an area that has hostiles in it. Seems more organic than orange clouds.
That said, they can use a LOT of work and squad orders and AI desperately needs some love and attention.
He isn't really speculating, there is an option to turn the cloud on and off in the options menu. It just doesn't work on hard or above.Originally Posted by Frag_Maniac Go to original post
