Don't get me wrong! I like the idea of the game itself. Hence, why I tried it during the free weekend. I recently played "Assassin's creed:Origins" because it came with a new computer. I probably wouldn't have bought it otherwise. I enjoyed it a lot, so now I'm trying to expand my game repertoire (Portal2 4EVR!).
It looks great, but seems to rely heavily on the virtually impossible driving thing to get anywhere. Why is driving so difficult? I would think that driving should be like walking, only faster! One of the first things that I needed to do was to get to a far place, so I got into a car, and immediately drove off a cliff! Maybe it's easier with a game-pad,, but every time I try to turn, I run into, or off of, a cliff! I would think that you could steer with the mouse, like you would with your character, but no! I have to be holding the "W" key to make the "A" or "D" key work at all but, when I am moving, the turn keys move me so much, that I veer way off target! Also why does it offer me the option to enter as a passenger, when (apparently) I am the only one that can drive?
Also, the supposed "tutorials" are of no real help either! The vague explanations figure I know what they are talking about. They seem to assume I know the (game related) references they are referring to! I can infer what LOADOUT or TACMAP is, after awhile, but if I knew that already, why would I be looking at the tutorial? An actual tutorial on how to play the game (and the terminology) would be much more helpful! I'm still not sure how to interact with people (assuming I can)!
Also, the map is awkward as hell, zooming in and out with no apparent ability to scroll around is infuriating!
I am more of an adventure/RPG guy, but these kind of games fascinate me and, I would like to play them, if I could actually play them!
This might be the first time I didn't actually buy a game before I knew I probably wouldn't play it again.
I don't drink coffee or soda. Your CAPS make me think you should heed your own advice.Originally Posted by CarolinaFrog Go to original post
If there is, in fact, a way to control steering sensitivity, I will try that. But, that isn't my only issue with this game. If, by Monday, I am still trying, I clearly have tried way too hard and actually want to continue playing. More likely though, I won't actually buy this and will go back to Portal 2 (It's comfortable)!
IMO, I never liked the the vehicle controls and physics in Ubi games WD, GRW and FC. Actually, the ground vehicles in FC5 are an improvement but still nothing to write home about. .....and their aircraft controls are absolutely atrocious and make no sense.
I have GRW on PS4 and even with a controller the vehicles still feel wonky. .....workable but wonky. One thing I noticed is that there seems to be a lag in responsiveness to my controller which doesn't occur in other games which may play a big part of the overall feel. This is very apparent in the APC.
Other things like stopping and the transition to reverse is too abrupt. The physics are also lackluster. In either case, I am able to overcome these issues and I'm quite effective with all the vehicles in GRW. .....but there's a difference between things I can do in a game and things I can do that I find really enjoyable. I've had some fun moments in GRW vehicles but generally speaking, I just don't find them that fun to drive. .....not like I would in a BF title or GTAV.
You will get used to it. You will be playing Ghost Recon: Dirt in no time. If you just started playing the game, don't judge it too harshly. Even playing in extreme difficulty starts feeling like the only way to play after you get used to it and understand you can't go fooling around like in GTA. The game has a few bugs and a few aspects that, if fixed or improved, would make it even better. But as it is, except for the hilarious vehicle drop points, nothing is unplayable as of now. Take your time, let it sit right and enjoy your game.
I've tried the trial on my XBOX One X, I didn't think the vehicle control was that bad and I'm not much of a gamer. With that said, maybe you're experiencing lag - I had to switch my TV (Samsung UN65KS8000) to "game mode" otherwise I too had too much lag which made driving, and control in general, not very responsive.Originally Posted by Kean_1 Go to original post
I've purchased GRW but now playing on my PC as I need 60+FPS. I'm also using an XBOX controller which makes driving/flying/etc. much easier and more satisfying - I can't stand digital control (on/off) for movement. My $.02

I'm on KB/M and take great pride in getting from A to B at full pelt without leaving the road, without hitting a lighting column, and without killing a pedestrian. Stick, in, it's not that hard really.

Just left click and drag the map to scroll around
