Thank you all for your answers... I wanted to know what would be the issues you found in this mode. I don't see myself grinding anymore as the weapons you earn will be inferior in any way to those you've upgraded with your Tier points.
Again, I don't mind being one shot if I make a mistake, that's part of the realism I wait from military sims but here we have a bunch of cavalieros who are even better at handling weapons than what should be considered the elite of elite.
Thanks again and good hunt Nomad.
"been there, hit lv 1, turned it off..."
That should be considered a big failure by the devs, they made the game boring instead of challenging.
how is that a fail? i came i saw i conquered.... its a game for christ sake! why drive yourself mad over a game? and hell, once you have he LVOA-c and the Desert Tech HTI...you pretty much roam the map with impunity anywaysOriginally Posted by Kebra_des_Bois Go to original post
I really wished that the unlocks were tied to the account and not character. I started a new game with a not upgraded character and that is more fun and challenging than Tier 1, but I have no access to any of the unlocks I got from my first character that cracked Tier 1. Without any upgrades and with no rebel support I wouldn't be able to reach Tier 1 in any sane amount of time again even if I wished so, meaning I basically lost all the unlocks making it a complete waste of time.
For me it was getting tougher up to ~25. By then though I changed my style of play completely to Tier 1-ranged and from then on it wasn't really that difficult. It was basically shooting at 300+m and leaving a mine when my position was spotted and I had to change location. Most Tier 1 high xp-rewards mission are doable within up to 5 mins each, too. Only when the xp-bug set in - where you don't get the full xp for missions each time you reach a new tier - it really became a drag. From then on I was just robbing convoys and going on killing sprees...
...but once I turned Tier 1 off it was back to a fun experience once more. I could restart playing using CQB, pick up gun fights at close range, try different things,... the real Wildlands' experience.
At the end of the day I learned a lot in Tier 1 about the game and if the gear would stay unlock on different characters I wouldn't complain. Was it a fun game mode? Nope, but it kept me busy and made me a better player for what that is worth...probably nothing XD. I really wish Ubisoft would release some proper game mods/content for PvE and not just 'challenges' (like Tier 1, Predator, Splinter Cell,...). I don't mind paying for it if it adds real content and not just beefed up enemies.
....and therein lies the problem I have had with Tier One. The core game play was much more satisfying for me and a big part of that had to do with the freedom they gave you to approach many of the objectives the way you wanted to. Tier mode was the opposite. It was certainly challenging but not in a fun way IMO.Originally Posted by KingSpawn1979 Go to original post
I also didn't like the RPG elements of weapon leveling or the general imbalance of them. Personally, I felt they shouldn't have focused on the the AI traits as they did to make the game more difficult (AI health buffs, reaction time, accuracy, spawn rate, etc.). It only served to highlight some of the underlying problems I already had with the AI but could tolerate in the core game since I found it relatively balanced enough where it could still be fun. Personally, I think there were many other components in the game that they could have added or altered to make the gameplay challenging yet still fun.
For me, what made GRW so attractive vs. other titles was the freedom of play it offered, more realistic damage, effectiveness of the various weapons, etc. Tier One took some of those traits away.
I reached Tier 1 before they nerfed the vehicles. .....I was able to plow through the last few levels with an attack chopper. Once I reached Tier 1, I promptly deactivated it and never turned it back on. Quite frankly, the only reason I played all the way through to 1 was simply because I wanted to finish what I started and I had a friend who was doing the same.
Where you went wrong is you accused the Devs of not playing Tier 1 enough to understand it, yet you haven't played it yourself. I'd rather hear the opinions of those that have played it, frankly, as at least I know then that they have a genuine opinion on the mode rather than picking up on any and every criticism and getting over excited about it as you tend to do.Originally Posted by GiveMeTactical Go to original post
For me so far, I don't have some of the others' issues, but I have no reason to doubt them and I respect their views. Yours less so, because it is not based on any experience at all, but why I don't have the issues yet is simple.
1) I am at Tier 18 and made most of the way there finishing the campaign and then playing things I liked. I do not feel any compulsion to get to Tier level 1 and so the grinding problem is non-existent for me and isn't likely to ever be a problem, because I don't ever play to change my Tier level. If it happens it happens.
2) The actual difficulty at the level where I'm at is not a problem for me in terms of gameplay yet. I haven't had to change my style or do anything different. That may of course change, and I think it will, but I won't know until I get there (one of the issues of course)
So no pretending here from me, I'm still not having the problems the others have had, but strongly believe that the mode has been approached from the wrong angle anyway. See any of the previous discussions that Kean others and I have had about the way the mode could have been approached.
I just hope Ubi doesn't give up on the idea of an elite mode like Tier One. Even though it needs refining in some ways (IMO just the grind of getting to Tier 1 level), it's still an option, and one many DO enjoy. I also don't see why it should come as a shock that one has to change one's play style to make it through it. I mean realistically the odds would be pretty slim of surviving a firefight with elite trained fighters when you're considerably out numbered. So you have to avoid them at all cost, and the game gives you plenty tools with which to remain ghosts.
You can argue semantics all day, animations, detection, etc, but I feel what really ticks people off the most is the end result when the crap hits the fan, and that is avoided 9 times out of 10 with proper tactics. You just have to be willing to adapt and USE those tactics.
