    One-shot cultist killer?

I'm looking for a one-shot-kill rifle that doesn't use a scope. I understand from one of the animal threads that the .50 cal rifles will take down buffalo in one, so it would be perfect for culling cultists.

However, I don't like the way scopes blind you to your surroundings while they're up to the eye, and would like something powerful enough to take down cultists with one shot (even to the chest) that just uses a dot sight.

    Any suggestion appreciated.

Well if no one responds you could always experiment and post your findings.

i personally prefer a shotgun as my primary weapon

The problem here is that there be "Heavies" in this game. Even my SA-50 will not take down a "Heavy" to the chest ?(even with AP ammo - and lord knows I've tried it many times). It takes a perfect faceplate or crease between the helmet and the shoulders to "ONE" shot the heavy otherwise (and why I don't know) it simply knocks his helmet off his head and the follow-up shot to the head kills him.

Given the 50 cal is pretty much the top of the line in damage I'm not certain a "ONE" shot chest kill is within the realm of possibility for ALL cultists in the game as requested.

I can say that as noted above, when doing my shotgun perk challenge - the SPA12, suppressed, utilizing both slug and incendiary ammot was quite impressive - as if regular ammo was not acceptable in most close quarters situations w/ non-heavy cultists..

When it comes to heavy armored enemies they still die in a single attack to take down moves. Normal shotgun ammo worked for me but i do hit blast them in the face a couple times

Attack helicopters also seem to make their armor seem non existent

.50 Cao is your best bet

A .50 Cal is going to be your best bet for stopping power.

Now, if you are worried about a scope limiting your view, you have a few options (including a Reflex Sight).

When I was starting off, I ended up having this video pretty much on my other screen. It shows all of the sights in action as well as how the view is. Reflex is you best be for an unobstructed, non-magnified view.

But there are a few that still give good peripheral vision but a bit of zoom.

Trust me - one shot w/ the SPA12 when it's loaded with "incendiary" ammo and they won't be bothering ya, (unless the screams of the victim bothers ya) - also it appears this ammo has abit "longer" range as does the slugs over the regular shotgun, IMHO.

Thanks for all the suggestions, people. @Inktank44, I shall watch the video with interest.

Many of you suggesting the shotgun, but while I appreciate its power I'm not an 'up close and personal' fighter, so would need something with better range than any of the SG.

Don't knock it till ya tried it with slugs and "incendiary" - I too disdained and turned my nose up, as I am not an up close and personal guy either. I was really impressed with it's range and accuracy and love the screams of the victims......
