    Dumber than a Box of Rocks

    Its it the Followers/Companions (FC's) or Developers that are Dumber than a Box of Rocks in recent games? FC's get run over, attacked, stand around while you wait for them to enter vehicles. find the longest way to catch up with you, or just ruin the game. Followers/Companions should be renamed to Total DumbAses/Developers. Had to misspell word not to offend anyone unlike the game.

    Yeah, it's almost as though these games are made from lines of code and pixels. Whereas the fact we can die countless times and magically come back to life is fine... now that's realistic.

    as I set thinking to myself........., how stupid does that make me look for dying 3 times trying to save Boomer (before I sent him back home and decided I don't need no stinking GFH or fangs for help).

    'Artificial' Intelligence is hard to simulate.
    NPC companions have done dumb stuff (blocked doorways, died stupidly, etc) in gaming since forever.

    That said, the dumbness of AI characters is often matched by the disappointingly poor understanding of gamers who haven't fully considered what's involved in programming AI. How AI characters pathway and assess when you are driving away vs. responding to threats from foes or even animals is not a trivial matter or immediately obvious to the player.

    Furthermore, it is more of a problem when the AI companion is too good. Many games 'dumb down' the AI deliberately to stop companions killing too many enemies and depriving the player of being a badass.

    No doubt!

    It is pretty bad (deliberately or otherwise) though in FC 5. CHANGING POSITION!!!!! IT'S A ******* BEAR!!!!
