I'm trying to be OPEN MINDED...

First of all..I'm not a game developer, coder, etc. but I do consider myself a "decent map maker"... which I believe EVERYONE on this specific forum would agree that they are decent map makers as well.

    But I'm also a huge data/analytical thinker.

If you notice (or you probably didn't), Ubisoft created a Forum/Thread specifically for Far Cry Arcade which basically has NO posts... the majority of the regular POSTS are under Far Cry Arcade Editor (this forum) which makes me believe that anyone or everyone who has posted HERE are more of the map maker people.

So let's BELIEVE you ARE NOT a map maker. You have no desire. You just want to play.

Does the Arcade format work for you then?

What would it TAKE for you to select a map to play? Are you really going to browse through tons of maps just to possibly get OUTBID by others? That's almost as discouraging as selecting your own map you created and being outbid, right?

You see, I think for the non map makers/non discovery type players,... the actually LOVE the time limit. They would probably have the whole "map picking" be cut out IMO..

I think this is the MAIN problem Ubisoft has encountered. In a main lobby you probably have 3/12 people who actually created and uploaded a map.

NOW for how I think Ubisoft could actually connect the dots:

Get RID of "MAP PICKERS" and have more weekly FEATURES. When something is FEATURED, its considered a "good map". So people will most likely "pick it"

Right now, there are 5 maps to be picked. What about 3 features, 1 ubisoft, and 1 random.

30 Featured maps in a rotation of 5 is a good number. All 30 maps could go be displayed in 1 hour. Add that for 1 whole week and that's CRAZY!

So the next question is how does my map get featured? Well I think that's where you gotta put the "work" or "play" in.. Someone who just makes a map but rarely plays shouldn't be given a feature just because the map is great. I think the point is to be a community. You can't be completely selfish and ONLY play your maps. If I make you a pizza and you eat it, I'd be rude to not try your recipe right?

Also, once you get featured, I don't think you should be featured more than once a month. Only way your map gets featured more is that it's part of that "random" which mean majority of people rated it HIGHLY.

You still gotta keep the rating system, but I think if Ubisoft acts more of radio station people will be happy. There's always that one show that features the locals you know, and eventually that local gets mixed in more and more.

TBH the problem for me personally is...i simply do not enjoy the MP.
The thread in the arcade section (the only one), pretty much says it all for me.

The gun mechanics feel off, almost like 3rd-person mechanics in a FPS.
I love creating maps, but dont enjoy playing them in this game...i pretty much play to test them, to see if theyre working as intended etc.

I dont usually get frustrated with gameplay mechanics in FPS, im normally pretty good...this game i just cant get a feel for any of the guns, they all seem very similar. Odds are, if theres a shotgun available in the loadouts...thats what the majority will use. Why? Because all the rifles have a ridiculous TTK, unless your godly headshotter or sprayer lol.
Shooting anyone below the chin, is pretty pointless, you'll possibly need to reload a few times to get the kill, even from CQ's.
Rocket launchers are extremely OP, as in blast radius terms. Wish you could set how many rockets a rocket launcher has (map pickup).

What im kinda trying to say is...if i wasnt a map maker, id been back playing BF4 one day after release!
I really hope (once again, weve been here before right lads), that Ubi keep their word about supporting the arcade, but with fixes and tweaks, not only DLC. New game-modes, more players in lobby etc.

There's a whole lot more..but im not here to get frustrated believe it or not lol.
Eitherways, im not totally convinced your idea would work as intended, but at least your committed and open-minded +1

Great post. Add Suburbs by Sabotur to Featured lol. Plays like a dream in TDM.

In fact, just add every good map. There must be 100's by now.

Who has the job of selecting maps? They need to be playing 24/7 - maybe get a co-player to cover their offline times.

Don't have one? Make a job for someone. C;mon Ubi, get it together. Someone needs to be playing all these levels continuously to select them and pay them ALOT because its IMPORTANT to MILLIONS of PEOPLE.
