The real world isnt all flowers and rainbows, sometimes there's no option for a happy ending, and in that perspective, it's a great ending. And seeing as a lot of you are up in arms threatening and claiming the writers should be fired, you only prove some of the hidden meanings in the game, you're all entitled, participation trophy winners who blelieve that can do or be anything, and to quote the game istelf, you CAN'T be anything you want to be, you CAN'T do anything you want to. If you believe that, then when something does go wrong, you don't know how to react, so you come on the internet complaining and crying and then threaten.

'm going to have to disagree with you on that.
To me it comes off as a ham fisted shooter/testicle harvesting sim pretending to be deep by having a shocking ending.
Let me mention a game that DOES have a brilliant and yet very bleak ending: The Last of Us. It was well-executed and actually delivered everything that it set up. The ending makes perfect sense given everything you've seen and experienced throughout the game. I don't know if it's deep or anything, but it's a sad and yet extremely satisfying ending.
Far Cry 5's execution of the whole story and not just the ending is terrible. It feels like two different games competing for screentime.
I also don't see how there's anything particularly intellectual about any of it, or what kind of introspection I should have about it. I've read so many theories about it by now and come to the conclusion that the game:
a) Goes out of its way to avoid providing the typical payoff because it somehow is ashamed of what it is.
b) Doesn't really have much to say about anything except loosely following some biblical references.

I'm not saying it's realistic for them to have nukes. It's a video game about silly overblown action, full of murder and mayhem in the middle of a first world country. It's not realistic that the government would let a giant murderous cult, that kidnaps, tortures and murders people, take over an entire county either, without doing anything about it. I wouldn't call Far Cry the pinnacle of realism.
The hints are everywhere though. Hints that imply that "the end of the world" is orchestrated by Father Joseph and that it would only happen if you arrest him.

Wow...as someone who has lived almost 50 years, I think I have a pretty good idea how sucky the real world can be. That is one reason I play video games. I also know I have never cast spells, beheaded someone with a sword, flown to another galaxy or shot a light machine gun, in real life....yet I have managed to do all these in games. If I wanted real and gritty games they are out there...but generally speaking far cry isn't that. Which is one reason i play video games...
Personally, I am very happy that you enjoyed the game and endings, as it is sad when someone spends their money and is disappointed with the product. Again, personally, I think the endings suck donkey balls, but to each his own. I see the portrayal of Joseph as chosen of God, after all his evil acts that should prohibit any Christian God granting him any abilities, an insult to the religion. I see the theme of walking away and letting evil flourish as incredibly foolish and ignorant to history. And I see the way the entire story is forced on you as heavy handed and clumsy.
I personally haven't called for the firing of anyone....but I have stated that I will vote with my money on any new Ubisoft product by either not buy in or waiting on reviews. This is because of the subpar story content and second rate writing...Ubisoft can do whatever they wish with this info. To the story sux and it basically killed game replay.
Glad you liked it but please don't insult people just because they don't agree with you....it also makes you sound like the worst ones you are complaining about.
If you paid for the game, you are entitled to your opinion. That goes for those who dislike the ending as well. The ending doesn't fit the story. The player is not set up to believe that Joseph is right. In fact, all evidence in the game points out how evil Eden's gate is. The ending is just there for shock value. I am fine with the nuke explosion and rook being tied up but there isn't any resolution. A story without resolution is an incomplete story.
If you go to a restaurant and order a steak, potato and green beans but the green beans are missing, do you have a right to complain? what if the cook told you, "that's life, bud."
I really don't see Ubisoft offering another ending in the future because the life span of a video game is about 6 months. 6 months from now people will be playing something else. I believe that most people dislike the ending. Only a few find the ending enjoyable.
