So I’ve been playing Wildlands since day one, coming as a veteran of Future Soldier. I always loved the Amount of strategy and stealth of the series. I always thought Wildlands was a great game, but it was missing some weapons. I love the P12, G28, and the MP7, but I thought the game was lacking overall for HK weapons. HK is the staple of U.S. spec ops. DEVGRU Used an HK rifle to kill Osama Bin Laden after all. I feel as though iconic weapons such as the HK416/HK417 and the UMP45/UMP9 should be added, to give the game an even more tactical feeling.
I took a brief look into this. While I'm definitely no gun expert, the things that came to mind are...
1. Ubi has put the P416 instead in most of their recent shooters
2. Gun forum chat seems to indicate both H&K and POF variants of 416 are raved about equally by those in the military.
3. The H&K is made in much smaller quantities and costs a premium
My quick analogy, is that like vehicles, real world makes of guns probably require licensing for devs to use them in games, and my guess is they can get P416 licensing WAY cheaper than H&K. alid point here.
For all we know, POF might have even offered better licensing price if Ubi agreed to go with POF exclusively over H&K. Now with one weapon it's not likely a big deal, but when you consider how many weapons there are in the game, then things like this suddenly become a more critical issue. This might also be why most of the signature weapons have fake stylized names, vs real brand names.
The P416 are in a lot of their most recent shooters
I’m talking about Top Secret spec ops like DEVGRU(Seal Team 6) and Delta Force
Another good point
Ubisoft can get POF licensing easier as it’s cheaper but they can do it like they did in BF4 or in siege. Let me remind you that (From siege and ghost reocn) The 417,416C,P12,P9,G36C,UMP45, and MP7 are all HK weapons. They just do not have HK in front of the model. HK is also based in Germany and supplies weapons for special forces units all over the world.
Even if POF did offer Ubi a better deal that wouldn’t make sense why there is only one POF weapon and Tons of HK weapons. It just puzzles me that’s all
Yeah I had vaguely recalled H&K were from Europe somewhere, but when you said staples of US Spec Ops, I misinterpreted. Thanks for that, edited my post.Originally Posted by DEFENDER_BANDIT Go to original post
As far as HK 416s appearing in Seige, I can see that since it's a more SIM type game, but certainly if they had them in BF4, they should be able to here. Only thing I can say to that is maybe like I said POF offered a much better licensing deal, or H&K's got too expensive. It doesn't bother me a whole lot, but I could see how it would a gun expert. You guys are as passionate about guns as racers are about models of cars.
HK is not the staple of US spec ops; It's one of many weapon manufacturers that compete for contracts until another major manufacturer provides better armament. There is no uniformity across the board for weapon issue at that level. Cycling is common. Latest n greatest gear.
Also "top secret" is simply a security clearance/listing. You might be thinking "Tier 1"? CAG and STS too
The MP5 used to be the go to SMG for most spec-ops teams, when involved in CQC, especially the MP5SD,with the integrated silencer. But with advancements made with PDW style assault rifles, like the M4, G36C, P416, etc with a compact design for better maneuverability than standard ARs, without sacrificing the stopping power, and effective ranges, that you can't get with an SMG, no matter how ood it is, the MP5 has been slowly replaced.worldwide.
