    Content requests for air vehicles/vehicles

First ill start by saying if there is already a thread about this or a better place to post this let me know and i will move it and re post there.

[FONTSo with the new helicopter controls it made me want more love for air vehicles. I wanted a lot of these features but didn't think they would ever come until the brought the new controls in. i will list them below. I decided to post this as i couldn't find any discussion on this topic (to my knowledge) so i thought i would start to, these are in no particular order of priority.

    • Flares
We already have them on the ground even though they are used more for distraction. Flares are my biggest request as even playing on arcade without the original flight controls its very difficult to dodge these missiles (with new controls) which are everywhere mind you and also have a very far range. nothing more annoying than spending time infiltrating a compound getting a helicopter with missiles and have it blow up which brings me to my next two points

    • Vehicle repair
This really goes for all vehicles wether its an APC (new tanks should be added too) APV or even air vehicles the armour on them isn't very significant adding a repair tool or perk would be a great addition to the game and make you feel more close to the vehicle you're operation to look after it and be a true vehicle support role which would change up how ghosts play in matchmaking and team play.

    • Option for weaponised plane or helicopter in the vehicle delivery
having only the standard transport helicopter is useful but can be a pain when you're getting ready for an op the addition to the APV and things like that was nice but i think it can be expanded. I hate fast traveling to specific locations to get a weaponised vehicle and then manually having to travel it back to mission location whilst making sure it doesn't get blown up. you still have that option but added it to vehicle delivery will have people facing the action faster and the way they want.

    • Vehicle delivery spawn locations
this is something thats more just a tweak, with the addition to tiers having crazy high intense (frustrating) gunfights and needing a quick exfil isn't possible don't get me wrong i love the idea of having to run to the extraction point and get there in one piece which would still need a tad tweaking for the distance and a lot more maintenance on the location. Having a chopper spawn 100 miles away having to run there in one piece getting in and having it blown up by another chopper, calling in another delivery and have it spawn practically inside the already destroyed helicopter is not my idea of fun or even having vehicles spawn in really weird positions etc.. it definitely could be looked at

    • Machine gun hit box (helicopters)
for me i love to switch it up and come in for strafing runs with that really nice sound of mini guns going to town...on a town. I just don't want to have to give 100 strafing runs on one enemy just to kill him. yes you could say its because of my aim thats besides the point. machine guns should have some love to be more menacing and the damage and spread of fire they do. i don't want to have to have the same physicals with handheld weapons be applied to a heavy round machine gun on a helicopter. the hit box should be wider being able to hit the enemy or near him destroying everything in that range with debris everywhere and a cloud of dust seems more in tune to what i would expect a gun with that calibre to deal. I cant tell you the numbers but i don't want to have my bullets actually hit the target physically in order to do any damage at all. an area of effect is in order

    • Weaponised jets/planes
the planes barely get used in my opinion unless its with narco roads stunt planes, or supply missions they are kind of useless. adding a new vehicle or even adding droppable bombes (napalm) into the mix would really spice things up or even just give them the same missiles as the other vehicles something to make them an option for gameplay. again even new types of jets or planes would be nice too. its easy to take for granted not having a tether to your teammates or even being able to appreciate the size of the map. flying through the sky so smoothly and being able to see miles off into the distance whilst still being able to use it for air support would be a great addition to the game

    • Glitch with the cobra attack helicopter
now i don't know if anyone else experiences this issue. But when i infiltrate a bas to steal the cobra every so often it'll have visual damage to the glass on the cockpit, and have the tail moves to one side exposing the damaged textures as if its already been shot off its still on there but just moved slightly or dramatically to one side, now maybe its just me but it bothers me to a incredible degree. i don't know why its there and it almost makes me want to try to get a new one even though it took me 4 tries to get the first just because of this visual glitch (the chopper itself isn't actually damaged it just appears that way)

    • Classic flying with lock on
now I'm extremely grateful for the new lock on for helicopters. but it does bother me how arcady it feels, especially when landing or just trying to dodge sam sites or just looking around the map. It seems to be a more focused head down approach to air combat which is does a great job at that i switch to classic for travelling and new for combat but being able to just add lock on for classic would be perfect for me. i love the way the classic flies (not combat) easy to dodge sam sites and you can skim across mountains almost and manoeuvre it really well. the mini gun is already manually controller by the co pilot so it wouldn't effect that too much but either way this is me just being nit picky I'm grateful that at least you can switch between classic and new.

So in conclusion i don't even know if this will get far but i want people to add to this give their thoughts an opinions and hopefully get some if not all of these into the game for other people who love to use the air vehicles or vehicles in general. With the announced operations I'm almost certain they announced community request features this would be a great time to bring this to the surface. Cheers for reading !!

all but point #1 i concur on!

having played thru FC3 &4 recently, i am a bit peeved that... we didnt get any repair tools, no weaponized planes, etc..... the flare thing tho.. we've rehashed that in over a doz other threads.. in civilian aviation, nobody has those, that would be a huge reach

....and in civilian aviation folks normally have early warning missile systems equipped on their aircraft? They do in GRW.

In either case, countermeasures could at least be available in the military aircraft found at bases, etc.

exactly, i mean if we want to be specific and accurate to what may be realistic sure, the civilian planes and helicopters don't have to have it i would be okay with that but definitely in all other militarised variants. the countermeasures are almost a must in my opinion.

I agree on most of this. A repair tool would be nice, enhanced armor on all player owned vehicles by type so the APC would be extremely well protected, flares on military aircraft, optimization of the vehicle weapons. Only thing I have an issue with is jets and weaponized planes. I don't think the spawn distance for non-VTOL aircraft would fair very well. We'd pass over our intended target before they spawn. Assuming they do spawn when you are within the 500 meters. A Harrier is the best type of jet to have in this game with toggled VTOL/Jet mode.

presuming you mean the draw distance ? i mean with how far i can go with an attach chopper and still get kills is pretty decent i understand where you're coming from i would see that mainly applying to missles having to fly line up and wait for them to show up to fire, but considering they put missiles in the game with no aiming system it would make more sense for that with droppable bombs, either way the idea is out there and im sure there is some way to implement some more love to planes, Seeing a harrier jet would be really really nice....

I think the big problem with Wildlands bringing in air vehicles, which is a no-brainier in regard to the opportunities it presented with the parachutes etc, is how far do you then go. At some point the game could become dominated by air combat. I think the decision to draw the line where it is feels about right for a Ghost Recon game, perhaps even too far. There are some things that could improve for sure, but I understand the lack of countermeasures as the game design is to force you, as much as possible, out of the air in certain areas. The SAMs respawning as they do, the placement of them and their range is all designed to work a certain way and giving the player an easy way to overcome that using flares, would then mean those settings could need to change.

Same with jets. If the Ghosts get jets and more air to ground ordnance, then players will ask for Unidad to get jets and then ask for dog fights etc. I think wherever that line from ground based to air based combat is decided for the game it will inevitably draw player requests to move that line further, so no criticism is intended of your suggestions, Azzyk1. I think they are good suggestions as they stand, it is just for me I'd like GR to remain focussed on its core gameplay and keep the air vehicles relatively light touch for combat with their purpose being predominantly for transport.

    Good points, OP

Vehicle spawning is a huge issue. I tried to call in a heli for the Sam Fisher mission...the damn thing spawned smack in the middle of the base.

Flares are being requested to combat the incessant SAM Spam. Not everybody can fly Nap of the earth and in some regions it's tricky. I understand that civil/para military helis might not have flares but the immediate acquisition and firing of SAMs makes air travel a chore.

I'd propose that UNIDAD helis can fly around freely. Civilian helis are warned by SBC/UNIDAD SAMs before they are targeted and SBC helis are welcome in SBC airspace but not in UNIDAD airspace.

Simple solution perhaps since they decided to bring vehicles/planes/helos...

    1. Civil Planes & Helos... No weapons but No SAMs attacks either. This way those who want to become tourist and smell the roses, so to speak, can do so.

    2. Military air vehicles... hell will give you no quarter

Im totally with you brother. A ghost recon game should be a ghost recon game. I have seen so many really cool game concepts gradually turn into these weird hybrids to fit the trend going on with video games rather than sticking to the theme and its core. In terms of flares and why i think its one of the most important things is because of the points i mentioned with it. Having that option in the game and not being able to utilise it especially if you're a bad pilot is very frustrating, i would leave specifics on the mechanics to the developers but i would never want the flares to be that OP for the same reasons you mentioned i just want something as a defence mechanism, wether its a limited amount of flares less effectiveness. I hate to say this but more like gta's countermeasures they are limited and also don't work 100% of the time so you're still at risk and at some point youll run out and be exposed which would bring a balance with flares there is absolutely some tweaking to be done as i wouldn't want it to be so abrupt just something to let me have 5 mins of fun considering i put effort in getting the thing from across the map. You can kind of see all these points i made coincide with one another.

As for jets again these points were in no particular order i guess i was just meaning new models and things but yes adding fighter jets etc.. does seem pretty risky as you're touching that line you mentioned. they would need to be optimised very well and added limited munitions would be a good answer for jets i really do hate having limited ammo in video games for vehicles but it seems like it would need to be applied for jets to make sure it doesn't turn into a whole new games with dog fights like you said. Either way i wouldn't want my points to literally be copied and pasted into the game i want them thought about and tweaked for whats best for the came and then applied if it still works ASLONG as it keeps wildlands what it is
