Greetings! The Division forums are now archived and accessible in read-only mode, please go to the new platform to discuss the game

Sniping in this game is indeed broken. it is WAY too easy. It needed to have drop physics, and more recoil, as well as sway. Also, we are outside most of the time so weather/wind/etc should effect bullet trajectory as well.

The only viable fix is to make sniping harder ... that is all.

I shoulda put sarcasm tags either side of that statement!

I'm assuming you're kidding here, otherwise we need to start a discussion about how everything else in the game must be made realistic as well, because it's all too easy compared to real life.

That, rather than the discussion at hand, which is 'Sniping isn't great in game play, especially compared to every other style of shooting in game play'.

I don't always take head shots. But when I do, I take them over and over, and over.. and over...

But on a serious note, I used to dismiss The Historian. Then I got a full 6 piece Striker set and optimized it, putting a lot into Firearms. The thing is a load of fun to use now. Its base damage isn't anything special, but the 700% explosion damage based off of Firearms per hit is pretty nifty.

Where I would spend more time shooting at one target with a sniper rifle (like Devil or Heel) to take it down, I am firing half the number of shots, and moving on to the next target. The explosion damage finishes them off. It makes for some nifty tactics, and lets me engage faster than any other sniper rifle, because I can move on to the next target while the DoT finishes off the previous one, instead of staying focused on that same target until it's dead.

I would never in a million years use it in PvP however, but it's my go to sniper rifle now in PvE.
