    Like everything else in the game. One moment you can’t hit anything with them, the next you’re a sniping machine. Rounds from all weapons seem seem to react differently at times too. Kill a group of NPCs with short burst each, come up on the next group armored the same and practically have to reload between each. Only answer I have is mild lag...almost not noticeable but there. Rounds just missing their mark.

    The reason you missed there is because groups of NPCs that are not engaged in a fight are not syncronized with the server until you engage them. In other words, what you see on your screen is not where the NPCs are until you shoot. Sniping is okay so long as you accept this inconvenience.

    I don't, so...it isn't. (But thanks for the explanation.)

    You just have to accept the fact a shot gunner can hit you from 50 metres but you cant from 25
    Why cant we have PROPER sniper rifles bipod equiped and lying prone ah wouldnt that be great , oh look a flying pig.

    Sniping has sucked in this game since they killed the old deadeye and first wave m1a. There’s like a cap on distance to the point you won’t get a hit on a target if you’re too far back.

    I noticed it a while ago but playing lately with hunters faith I see it even more.

    I hope in the division 2 snipers will be viable. 1 shot ability, sniper perches etc

    I did a Skirmish match yesterday and got 16 kills with a Sentry's Call build (they were bad players, it was easy) and every single member of the opposite team sent me abusive messages when the match had finished calling me a "hiding ****ot" and claiming I was "ruining the game" with my "***** *** build". One of them also reported me for hacking.

    All of them were running House/Striker.

    Here is an example of Massive's attitude towards sniping:

    Hunter's Faith and Striker use the same principle with their damage increases. One build lasts 10 seconds, punishes you for landing bodyshots, loses all its stacks on reload, can only be used with one weapon archetype and requires the player to be a complete glass cannon just to activate the bonuses. The other build can be used with any weapon, lasts indefinitely, turns the player into a tank, provides the best source of self-heal in the game for dps players, provides so much stability that it turns every gun into a laser and actively REWARDS BODYSHOTS.

    I miss 1.4!
    Yep pretty much. You did nothing wrong. You should wear their response as a badge of honor.

    I dont play sniper cause my aiming is bad anyway but every so often I come across a sniper in LS and even though they get me once or twice they get other players many more times. Kudos to those that try something different. Ppl just dont know how to handle them and even if they do, want to play the sort of 1 dimensional pvp they are used to in other games. Theres little finesse in this game as it is and the majority of players probably dont know its definition anyway!

    As for your comments on striker..... Its the best designed and balanced gearset in the game. Shame none of the others are!

    Agreed with all of the above.

    I was in Skirmish the other day, against a group of four who clearly knew each other and had set up a strat. It was, actually, a great strategy - three of them would go out, draw fire, and play blocker...and one guy hung back and ran Deadeye.

    For the first half of it, we got murdered.

    This guy was a champ. I would be running toward a fight and just bam bam bam bam I'm lying on the ground wondering what the hell hit me.

    Then we figured it out and started rushing their group from cover. Ended up winning the match as in THAT situation the enemy team was basically 3.2 players against 4 (the Deadeye guy didn't count for much when we really got into it with him). But maaaaan...scary start, and my hat is off to that fellow and his team.

    I don't understand people who can't deal with that, though. In my opinion, given the difficulty of actually sniping players who are decent at PvP, why NOT have heavy-damage sniping with Bolt-actions?

    But the game clearly isn't meant for that, to the point where I wonder why there are bolt-action sniping rifles in it at all.

    PvP

    - No good gearsets for PvP Bolt-action sniping;
    - Places for snipers to set up in the DZ are few and far between (how many very high places have 'cover' walls you can hide behind and still shoot down onto the street? I'm not talking about scaffolding that is one story up and doesn't exactly command a wide field of fire, I'm talking about stuff like the building close to the DZ09 extraction, where you CAN see a wide range...but it's impossible to take cover);
    - Sniper rifles have crappy range.

    PvE

    - Most missions and such take place at short range;
    - Even when there is long-range shooting, it doesn't matter; enemy fire is hyper-accurate and powerful at all ranges;
    - Additionally, Enemy reacts instantly to incoming fire and, unlike other games I have played, automatically knows exactly where you are, even without LOS.

    This is not to say it's impossible - clearly some people make sniping work in PvP and I do quite well with a Sentry's Call sniper build in PvE - but sniping...the game is not made for that.

    These things, they do not favour bolt-action rifles.
